There has to be some middle ground here. Whether they can find it within the current set-up remains to be seen. But not televising games is not the one and only option.
Make it public. You can cash out shares after you extinguished your eligibility, or declared for the draft. You get 25% bonus on shares if you graduate with a degree. Half of the NIL money goes toward share buybacks. Joking joking
TV contracts (both for the leagues and for the CFBP) are what have caused all this. Uncomfortable but true. I guess technically the Supreme Court caused it, but you know what I mean. Not my job to convince everyone to stop making money, but the only way you have an amateur sport is with amateur level revenue. I have no problem with teams and leagues making **** tons of money, but I do have a problem with people that benefit from this system tremendously bemoaning it with their crocodile tears and wish-casting for a sport to 'come back' that hasn't really existed for the better part of 40 years.
You seem to have the mistaken impression that I think this is possible. It isn't. Amateur college football is ****ed and dead and gone forever. RIP.

TV revenue is the heart of the problem. Full stop. Chasing these absurd piles of cash are what has lead this sport to where it is now. As soon as the Supreme Court decided schools/leagues have total control in 1984 you saw it all start becoming unraveled. So, if you find a way to put games on TV without gobs of revenue involved, you will have solved this problem. I wish you luck in figuring that out. If you want to be an amateur, education-based, student-athlete-first organization you cannot operate as a professional franchise and league. You can't have it both ways. Pick a lane.
Problem is that they aren't allowed to pick a lane currently. Schools have zero "control" over NIL and transfer portal so they are essentially a professional league without any of the regulations.
Nah mbb and cfb. And only specific conferences. All the lower divisions are still out there doing their thing as true amateurs.
The problem I have is the transfer portal. NIL money should be tied to a contract saying if you accept NIL money for going to a school then you're signing a contract saying you can only play at that school. Maybe put in a clause that says you can have a one time transfer exemption after 2 or 3 years. Sort of like a non compete clause.
Grad transfers are another thing, good on them, go wherever. But yeah, if you're gonna pay them like pros, then make them sign contracts. And let the players unionize. I have no idea how this will inevitably **** up the non-revenue sports.
There is an injunction against the one time transfer exemption. Kids can transfer as many times without penalty currently. This is literally free agency without contracts, salary caps, etc...
