Something like? To Astros: Ian Happ Eric Hosmer To Cubs: Jackson Merrill Brandon Bielak To Padres: Bryan Abreu Enoli Paredes That gives us lots of position flexibility...

Gives us.... 1B Gurriel, Mancini, Hosmer, and Vazquez CF Happ, McCormick, and Dubon LF Mancini, Alvarez, McCormick, Diaz, (Brantley in playoffs?) Lots of flexibility for depth...
Too bad Trent Grisham and Victor Robles are trash, it would be nice to get our hands on someone like Lane Thomas. He's young and still seems to be putting it together on a bad Nats team that isn't going anywhere, anytime soon.
Of course I don't. He just keeps talking about these rumors yet never cites his rumor source. I think he is telling himself things and then he can say "I heard...."
Astros aren't in a position to eat 13 mil each of the next 3 years for such little production. They have too many raises coming and have holes to fill on the roster for next season.
The Astros are willing to take on short money in a deal but no, they are not taking on 39 million over 3 years. That is a lot of money and flexibility for a team like the Astros. There is no way they touch that.
It's kind of crazy to look at how much they've invested in prospects -- pretty decent sized packages to land all of Darvish, Musgrove, Manaea, Clevinger, and Snell. Contrast that with the Astros rotation... pretty wild difference.
If the Astros traded a starter like Urquidy for Happ or something I could see the Astros making a deal with the Padres to eat the rest of Will Myers contract to get Snell for low level prospects.
