Into the Night (Netflix) - 7 out of 10. Belgium series, set largely on an airplane. Tense, well written, for the most part solid acting (multi-national cast). Happy I found something that could follow up Money Heist. You have to be a bit willing to accept things in the plot, but you will be rewarded as episodes fly by (pardon the pun).
Extraction You know what this is and what's gonna happen before you even watch it. Nothing very interesting - but that's ok, if it's at least fun and/or gets you to care about the characters just a bit. It kinda does that. I guess. The problem is it's 30-40 minutes too long. 4/10 - not terrible but don't go out of your way to watch it
Sweet Magnolias, Netflix- 7.4/10. The small town of Serenity is filled with pg drama. A town where people gossip and baseball still matters. It's as if Nicolas Sparks hijacked the CW, back when the CW was WB and you were 19 with free time to spare waiting for the late game of the Rockets vs Antawn Jamison's Warriors. Well, not much has changed in the life of a Rockets' fan. This show casts some spell over the viewer. After each episode, you just click 'next episode' swearing you will stop. No one character stands out so it's strange that I liked the show. To quote the garm, "I've grown to hate cliffhangers."
I watched it and I agree with you. It was well done fluff in a can. The Amy Adams lookalike was what drew me at first. It kind of bothered me throughout as it might as well have been her. Her character's ex-husband was the geeky guy from “American Pie” playing a pretty good douchebag. Would be funny if they don’t renew for season two given the cliffhanger.
I recently add Dead to Me to my list. The preview looked good. I enjoyed Outer Banks. It has a CW show vibe to it.
I never really watched any CW shows. The vibe is definitely different from what I've watched though. I liked it more and more as the episodes played out.
Just finished both seasons. More please. Really entertaining. I thought there were only 2 duds out of the 19 episodes.
I have 2 more to go and I am dreading finishing it, the most engaged I have been in a series for awhile, the episodes seem like 30 minutes instead of 50. Anna Torv needs to be a bigger thing, she is aging quite well.
The Ulysses S. Grant docuseries is well done. Nice to see actual history on the History Channel for a change.
A new season just started. I think it is the last season. It’s gotten really strange imo with all these different groups and supernatural stuff. Just trying to hang on until the end.
Just binged Avatar the last airbender. This might be one of the few shows that was much better than I remembered as a kid. Definitely worth a binge. Might be the best animate TV show to date.
Finished Mindhunter, great great TV, very disapointed that it was only 2 series. Starting Hannibal but it's hard to get into after watching a show like Mindhunter. Trying to finish The Fall, on episode 3 S2 and its really losing me, this subplot with the young girl makes me eye roll so hard, don't know if I will be able to finish it. Really liking Giri/Haji on Netflix very different show with some great actors.
