In a vacuum, not a bad draft. They targeted players at positions of need and no egregious reaches.

Blacklock: people talk about his pass rush but he is really a run stuffer first. In a division with Derick Henry and having to face the Ravens, not a bad thing.

Greenard: productive pass rusher; my only question mark is the proposed position move. That doesn't always work out.

Heck: a bit of a head scratcher given what we thought were bigger needs. I thought safety or guard. A bit of a reach but not as much. Plus the trade down was a good move so I cant get too upset.

Reid: they really like Roby and Conley and Lonnie was a 2nd from just a year ago. I always thought whichever CB they drafted was going to be for depth. Reid doesnt have the size of Lonnie but if he has the instincts and quickness he can beat him out for the 3rd spot.

Coultier: raw speedy receiver joins a receiver group of speedy receivers. I would have liked a big body position receiver but the good ones were off the board. Gonna be interesting to see how the receivers pan out on the roster.

    Question marks:

Safety: everyone was sure the "we saved money by switching to Gipson" project was coming to an end. Maybe not. I hope not. The only other safeties are 3 special teamers.

Guard: Fulton is the veteran of the group. Never thought he was an OB guy. Even with him, the only backup guards are Mancz (who is the backup center) and Kelemete. I expect a couple undrafted free agents at this position.

TE: it is a shame they have so many tight ends on the roster because I think they still need one. A sure handed tight end that can be a go to when they need a 3rd down pass. Hopkins isn't around to bail them out anymore. Sigh.

More likely than not, the Texans will sign who they would have drafted at #241, as an UDFA.

Yep just a little bit taller and faster if he can be as productive as Bruce it will end up being a very good pick.

I like what the Broncos and Raiders (minus the corner being a reach) did a lot. Probably more than the Ravens even.

The Raiders draft got better as it went on IMO. Taking Ruggs as the first WR off the board and then Arnette were bit of a reach.

Taking Muse that early I thought was a bit of a reach too. I liked him just not that early

Never know until they played a couple seasons, but I was very pleased with the type of players they went after, how they actively worked the draft - moving up and down, and how it didn’t feel they reached.

HOU’s future really hinges on how well these past two draft classes are able to develop. If either classes are duds, than we will 100% be trash in 4-5 years, after BOBs dearth of picks catches up.

    28. Houston Texans
    • Grade: C
Draft picks: DT Ross Blacklock, DE/OLB Jonathan Greenard, OT Charlie Heck, CB John Reid, WR Isaiah Coulter

File Bill O’Brien as another handcuffed decision-maker with little draft capital. Blacklock was a strong pick to replace D.J. Reader, but they missed out on a lot of value at various points of the draft beyond that. Houston has had a few problems with this offseason, hasn’t it?

LOL. Some of these draft graders are lazy. They look for NAMES and not talent and need.

Have to disagree here. while it does seem like Texans always pass on big names, I thought this draft was pretty decent. Only pick I don’t like is Heck.
