Dont understand all the hate for Tucker. Isnt he one of ours? We've become so spoiled now that we've won a WS.
I really don’t see the Astros letting Springer go. He is the straw that stirs the drink so to speak. I think he gets a long term deal this offseason.
People have been spoiled by Yordan. If you're an elite prospect, you have to explode on the scene like Yordan has. If you struggle out of the gate, you're trash and we have no time for you.
Many fell into the early hype, and then got disappointed. Not hate. Unrealistic expectations not met.
I love our FO and I trust they’ll make the right decision whilst not mortgaging the future. The way things are setup currently we have a shot to have a cycle of talent that could have us setup for contention for the next decade, not too many teams have a stacked MLB roster to couple with a stacked farm system. Astros trusted their process and it’s still paying dividends. Now we are the envy of the league so much so that teams want to steal our ideas with player development. You don’t give away the farm for a slight increase in odds of winning this year. Verlander trade was perfect. Same with Cole. Those deals provided great value. If that’s not a deal that can be facilitated at the deaDline then dont give into unreasonable demands. We’ve set ourselves up so we don’t have to be desperate. SoMe ppl on this board are making it seem that a deal has to happen for us to win this year. What other teams have a dominant 1+2 plus an an above avg. #3? We already have a very good shot to win it but some of you want us to be clear cut dominant favorites while giving up 2-3 of our best prospects. Those 2-3 prospects will replenish talent at the MLB level when we can’t afford to sign some of our best veterans long term. Deals like this kill the very rare financially feasible talent cycle our FO has successfully created.
Yep, Alvarez is special The best Astro fans can hope for is Tucker becomes as good as Benintendi. For this reason I would trade him for Thor in a heartbeat. Tucker has a long swing and a bad attitude. Maybe he adjusts his swing, maybe not. I doubt his attitude changes.
Astros could have traded Bregman as a prospect. Astros could have spent their prospect load on Quintana instead of waiting for Verlander. Evaluating prospect value appropriately leads to having a ton of home grown talent, a ton of value in players acquired via a trade, and money to spend during free agency.
