Its all fluff. No real reporting going on. Just generic stuff so that the tweeter can say "see, I was right, they were interested in Bauer. My sources were right!"

There are no sources. Its all 100% rumors with no substance to it.

I'd prefer Bumgarner over all others. A change of scenery could motivate and revitalize him and turn him back into a force. He almost singled handedly won the World Series for the Giants that one year.

Come on please don’t post fake bullshit like this. Stick to posting fake news from the “insiders”. Lol

They do not have "significant" needs. They're on pace to win 103 games. They have the best 1-2 pitchers in baseball (and, based on #s, one of the better 1-3). They have the best offense in baseball. They have a very good bullpen which could get better merely through health (Peacock & James).

Anything they add would be more luxury than necessity.

    No one should be disappointed.

There’s a 50% chance the Astros trade for nobody and the other 50% to trade for a Francisco Liriano type pitcher lol

Their #4 SP is hurt and their #5 is a rookie who entered the season as a non-prospect and who has thrown 19 innings in the majors. They have needs.

Every pitcher that “changes his scenery” to the Astros becomes a force.

Even without acquiring any SP, the odds of them losing the division are pretty remote. The benefit of a rental is almost entirely in filling out the playoff rotation. Having Wheeler over Urquidy or Peacock as your fourth playoff starter would be nice though.

I will laugh my ass off if they trade for Bauer. I hate the guy but the reaction from Astros fans will be hilarious.

They have an 8-game lead as July ends. And their #5 starter will not see the field in the postseason (if they even make the roster); their #4 starter only in extreme circumstances. How do those two facts = "significant needs"?

We have needs but not the kind that demands being desperate in the market.

    My preference, costs excluded:

    MadBum
    Thor
    Boyd
    Vazquez
    Bauer
    Wheeler
    Diaz

I think whoever we acquire will come in pretty rejuvenated and excited to work with Strom and the Astros. I’d be pretty happy if we landed any of those players. Surely JL is looking at a lot more players...will be interesting to see who he reels in.

There's a 100% chance that no matter what move is made or not made, fans will criticize Luhnow afterward. There is also 100% chance that these same fans will change their username when we win another WS, and these fans will act like they have respected Luhnow all along.

His .05 cent head worries me. So does the hate between him and Cole.

Unless the Astros already know something, I don’t want to push Cole out of the door. Probably little hope of signing him this offseason, but you never know.
