If the Padres are actually out, this helps Houston with the Mets. Mets might piss their fake leverage away altogether. Opens up opportunities for other sellers imo.
The more I think about it, the more I think it was a smart move by them. Got a quality pitcher and can deal for quality prospects by dealing one or both of Thor/Wheeler. I’ll echo others and say I’m glad he didn’t go to a team that we may see in the playoffs.

The Cubs just acquired Maldonado to be their backup. Doubt they would trade him. Maldanado was very disappointing to me last year, but the Astros management apparently like him.
