I like him better than Stassi. So does the staff. Robby needs some time off. Presuming this is for someone like Kemp I’m good.

All I can think about is how he couldn't block a breaking ball and continuously allowed baserunners to move up. He needs to redeem himself.

Good pickup IMO. Shores up a big weakness. Maldonado is a great defensive catcher outside of a few postseason blips last year.
Agreed. I doubt he will catch in postseason. Should be a solid backup to Chirinos. Btw, I’m happy for TK too. He get to play for a contender.
As soon as my wife texted me about Machete, my first words back were: "For Kemp?" This is definitely a good thing. He's not going to be our primary catcher, he's better than Stassi (at the plate and working with pitchers), he's familiar with most of our staff, and we acquired him with a player we had no more room for that was already DFA'd. This is win-win. And good for Tony! The Cubs are good and young and fun. Maddon loves versatile players and uses them often. Again Win-Win here.
They must have zero faith in Stassi's ability to hit above that of an AL pitcher, which is weird because he has been decent (for a catcher) in the past. It's also not like Maldy can hit for **** either.
