I had always wondered why they didn't utilize him more in the offense. He could be a very dangerous weapon with more passes thrown to him. The guy played lineman in college.

Akins is already has 20 catches for 248 yards and 2 TDs. If he can continue to show up, think he’ll okay.

Akins 17 catches 0 TDs last season. So Thomas wouldn’t have been better with an offense that uses its TEs finally.

Its really nice to finally have an O-line that is mediocre/good enough to allow the TE's to be receivers instead of additional linemen.

Fells and Watson have that TD chemistry, not sure it's easily gonna be replicated with someone else.

Is Warring out because of a concussion?

It has to be more serious than that.

I'm sure he's able to play. He's basically redshirting this year because we had a glut of decent tight ends, and he needed to learn the ins and outs of pro football.

Don't think it would necessarily be a Thomas vs. Akins situation. Fells is playing well but will be a FA this summer and Warring will still be an unknown. Just saying that if Akins continues his play, don't think he is a cut candidate given how little he makes.

Warring is simply going to be upside, and he has plenty of that. It takes a long time for TE’s to adapt to the pros and we have players currently more ready. We will know in 3 years.

If we end up resigning Fells, I'm sure we'd trade Akins or Thomas to replenish our draft capital. It's a good situation to be in, and I am glad we are able to find more than decent enough prospects at the tight end position especially after years of hoping C.J. and Ryan Griffin will finally turn the corner.

I know he played WR in college, have not heard that he played OL also.

That would be a pretty big leap within a 4 year career from OL to WR....
