The DSL Astros offense is off to a hot start. Only 5 games in but the 3 guys I am most excited about (Miguel Palma, Christian Gonzalez, and Ricardo Balogh) are all hitting well out of the gate. Balogh played some catcher today.
Caught 4 innings. Interesting that they seem to think he's a candidate to move to catcher right as his career is getting started.
Wonder if it's kind of a good news/bad news type thing, as I doubt they would move him to catcher if they were confident that his bat would move him through the system quickly, but if he can play catcher, the bar for his bat will be much lower.
Several things about him have me intrigued: Big kid (6’3”) Super young (16, had to wait a week to sign last year because he was only 15) Notable bonus
Some really crazy roster assignments today. SS Javier Bermudez, who played in the DSL last year, is playing for AA Corpus Christi tonight, as is OF Ramiro Rodriguez. Between those 2, Luis Santana, Hector Martinez, and Layne Henderson, there are 5 guys on the Hooks roster who did not play full season ball last year.
I trust the analytics guys to move guys up in the proper time frames so they have their best chance to be successful.
Probably You certainly know more about the farm system than I do. BTW, thanks for your posts, I learn alot from them.
So, Armenteros replaced Perez (scheduled starter) before the game even started. Sounds like Cionel Perez is coming back to Houston. If so, then probably the corresponding move for either Guduan or Rodgers.
Round Rock has scored ten runs (and counting) in the 7th inning. They've loaded the bases four times in the inning. They lead Vegas 16-3. Yordan Alvarez is the only person in the lineup who hasn't gotten a hit or driven in a run yet, but he has walked twice (not intentionally) in the 7th inning.
