Toro is 2-2 today, rocking a .343/.407/.576 (172 wRC+) for the month of June coming into today. I think he's the single most likely Astros prospect to be traded this deadline, and he's doing his best to boost his stock.
Lots of good showcase games: Framber 5 scoreless innings Derek Fisher 3-3, HR Whitley 5 scoreless, 9 k Toro 2-3 Cody Deason 4 scoreless, 6 k
7th rounder Blair Henley has given up one earned run in 20 innings of pro ball. His numbers at Texas weren't great but I remember reading post-draft that his spin rates were astronomically high. Could be an upside pitcher to follow going forward.
Framber is likely done with a 7 IP 4H 0R 2 BB 11Ks. That curve is so good, I still think he'll be a solid major leaguer, even if it's as a reliever.
Agree, I’m more than ready for them to shift him to the pen and call him up. I think he could be an elite reliever, although probably too inconsistent to close full time.
Agree that a guy who has walked 50 batters in 87 MLB innings probably isn't about to close full time lol
Mitch Williams walked 62 in 88.1 innings for the 1991 Phillies to finish 6th in the cy young voting. Not disagreeing with your premise. He's just the first guy that came to mind reading this and thought that stat line was interesting.
Yea, it can happen, just pretty rare. Mitch Williams scared people too, Valdez mostly scares Astro fans. Not saying he can't figure it out at some point, but if I found out he was included in a deal for someone in the next 17 hours I wouldn't be disappointed
Finally able to add Whitley to this list of potential starters: That's 2, 1 or 0 hits allowed in 15 of these 25 outings over the last 15 days, 129IP, 60H, 12R, 41BB, 171K, 0.84 ERA, 0.78 WHIP, 11.9K/9 July 30 Whitley 5IP 1H 0R 0BB 9K, Valdez 7IP 4H 0R 2BB 11K, Javier 3IP 1H 1R 4BB 5K July 29 Pinales 2IP 0H 0R 2BB 6K July 28 Austin Hansen 4IP 3H 1R 4BB 7K July 27 Yohan Ramirez 6IP 1H 1R 1BB 8K (Bielak 7IP 3H 2R 2BB 7K) July 26 Urquidy 6IP 4H 1R 2BB 6K, JP France 7IP 2H 0R 1BB 9K July 25 Javier 4IP 0H 0R 2BB 9K (Abreu 5IP 5H 2R 1BB 6K) July 24 Bukauskas 5IP 1H 0R 1BB 7K, Ivey 2.1IP 1H 0R 2BB 5K, Emanuel 7IP 3H 0R 1BB 5K July 23 Jojanse Torres rain delayed, pitched the next day: 7IP 1H 0R 1BB 8K July 22 Chad Donato 4.2IP 6H 1R 1BB 3K July 21 Armenteros 5IP 2H 1R 2BB 6K, Yohan Ramirez 5IP 2H 0R 3BB 4K July 20 Urquidy 7IP 2H 1R 1BB 9K, Bielak 7IP 1H 0R 2BB 7K July 19 Abreu 4IP 2H 0R 0BB 7K July 18 Bukauskas 6IP 7H 1R 2BB 9K, Ivey 3IP 0H 0R 1BB 2K July 17 Paredes 6IP 3H 0R 2BB 9K July 16 Sneed 7IP 5H 0R 1BB 7K
Probably Pressly, seems the injury needs time so he can return to his bad @$$ reliever form... but we shall see!
That's huge. He hasn't had a game like this yet in 2019. This will be big for him mentally. If he can put another one together like this and hit closer to 70 or 80, then he might be out of the woods and back on track.
