i pretty much agree with most of this ^^ crosby and hill both sound like solid picks so hopefully we get the right player with that opening pick!
ESPN had him listed as a C on their site. Jayson Braddock said he’s a potential All-Pro guard, but questionable at tackle.
You're right! This high 4th rd pick ( 3rd overall ) will be the Texans last pick in the draft where you can get someone who can realistically contribute as a rookie. Texans won't draft again until the 6th rd; equivalent to a mid 2nd rd NBA draftee.
This is where it’s gets hard to watch for me. If we go OL, only guy I know left that’s good is Tyrell Crosby. It’ll be hard to convince me anyone else is good. If we go DB, it has to be Holton Hill. I don’t see him falling pass the Seahawks.
This is where Texans need to get imaginative and offer next years 4th plus say #177 to move into the middle of this 4th - there are too many good players available to pass up. Des Harrison is better than Crosby. I really liked the first two picks but you don't pass up on so many quality players to reach for Jordan Akins - that's a head scratcher right there.
Serious question: How would you have felt had we traded up for Connor Williams? A guy who is “analysts” are projecting best at Guard. Assuming you wouldn’t be all that happy since we signed 2 guards in FA and need a tackle right? Rankin went from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to First Team All SEC at Mississippi State to projected 2nd/3rd round pick, all playing Left Tackle. Yet guys like Jayson Braddock say he needs to play a position he had never played before to be successful? Not trying to call you guys out individually as we see this a lot. But don’t think this is much different from guys saying Lamar Jackson needs to move to WR, just opinions.
1. It was a joke Running joke from when they signed Fulton and we were saying play five centers on the line. 2. I didnt say he was a center. An "expert" did. 3. I still think there were better linemen available 4. Texans just love them those linebackers who can play quarterback and punter 5. #4 is a joke too.
Patriots picked Isiah Wynn in the first round to play LT who is shorter than Rankin, and has shorter arms. Everybody on the planet not in NE says he has to kick inside to guard or center. The way things work, after the Pats win the next 2 Super Bowls, midget LT's are going to become the new trend. Rankin will be too tall to be cool.
This is from Keith Mumphrey. They could have just waited to sign him as UDFA. Nobody else wanted him (on why he thought the Texans were interested in him) "Throughout the process, I felt like they were more interested because they were the only team that actually worked me out. That was one of the main reasons why because they were the only team to work me out. So I'm like, there must be something if they are the only team that wanted to work me out."
