B-R doesn't have the splits up for ABs vs younger/older pitchers (may not be something they bother with at A-ball level), that would interest me eventually. I do know that TC is an extreme hitters park while QC is pretty much neutral. The power will come, I'm thrilled to see him hitting and getting on base at this point.
The box score was messed up. It was Nerio Rodriguez, he and Nathan Perry have pretty evenly split the starts & innings at catcher there, and the other DHs.
Very interested to see how he will do vs older competition. He has been as good as we could have possibly hoped so far that’s for sure
Freudis Nova finally drew his first walk of the season yesterday. After starting the GCL season 1-15, Ronaldo Urdaneta is now on a seven-game hitting streak.
Seth Beer hit his second Midwest League homer in Quad Cities' 6-0 win over Bowling Green today. He now has 6 on the year between Tri-City and Quad Cities. He also got the start in right field. Jairo Solís allowed two hits, walked four, and struck out four over 5.2 shutout innings and Bryan Abreu completed the shutout by striking out six over 3.1 innings; the one baserunner that he allowed was on a HBP.
Alvarez a hit and a bb in futures game Really wish they would play that on Sunday night instead of burying it in all the other games
He doesn’t really like the Astros front office... which tells you everything you need to know about him.
Alex De Goti hit a solo homer (10) and a 2-run double for Corpus tonight. Probably won't be more than an organizational guy in my uneducated opinion but he's definitely holding his own in AA. And... the Astros probably think that his upside is a little higher than being just a guy, considering that he was in most of the games towards the end of spring training.
On the surface him and Mayfield could vie for the utility infield gig if we want to replace Marwin with a traditional in house utility guy.
Brock Dykxhoorn is thru almost 50 AAA innings and his performance is impressive. 9.3k/9, 1.6bb/9, 3.15fip. All in the PCL. He is probably getting a little lucky but still I think he is going to pitch in the majors.
Big split in his xFIP and FIP driven by his low GB%. He's gonna need to induce a lot of pop ups as a major leaguer to avoid getting eaten up by the long ball.
.483 BABIP noted, but Andy Pineda has a higher AA wRC+ than Yordan Alvarez; they are the same age. Abraham Toro has walked more than he has struck out so far in AA. Lorenzo Quintana has caught fire at the plate, may be worth seeing what he can do at AAA next season. He’s up to 129 wRC+. I’m still optimistic about Jake Meyers as a future big league bench OF. He’s walked more than he’s struck out in High A, his numbers dragged down by a .250 BABIP. Tyler Ivey has come on in High A lately. His numbers are now much closer to what he was doing in QC. Hard to believe there should be 3 guys (Martin, Ivey, Bielak) from that draft class in the AA rotation next season and all could be in the majors by September 2019. Abdiel Saldana has the 12th lowest FIP in all of High A among pitchers with 40+ Ip. Rosado, Paredes, L Rodriguez, and Solomon all look ready to be promoted. Gotta like what CF Marty Costes has done so far. Another potential 4th OF. Celestino is 5th in all of Low A in wRC+ among players with 100+ PA. Enmanuel Valdez is also in the top 30. Alfredi Jimenez and Ernesto Jacquez are in the top 10 in FIP among international league pitchers with 20+ IP.
True. I don’t think he’ll be a star or anything, but I think he will be a nice MR or 5th starter for a non-contender. Or a AAAA guy for Houston.
