Arauz doesn't surprise me at all. It is still very early in the season and only a small fraction of non-ranked preseason guys that have performed well enough in the minors at A+ or lower to get added (I counted 3 guys added that weren't in AA, AAA, or drafted in 2018). Thought there was a chance one of Martin and C. Perez would sneak into back end of the list, but didn't expect it. Fangraphs didn't have many Astros rated FV 45 or higher in the preseason with C. Perez only one that has performed well that wasn't ranked in the preseason Top 100. I do expect the Astros to have several more guys in the FV 45 rating (i.e., just outside of the Top 131) when they update the teams lists.
Not sure about that. Seems to me without looking that Fisher got many more regular ABs than Davis did. I sure could be wrong. Not an ideal situation for either of them. I'll add, I liked Davis' approach at the plate much more than Fisher's, from what I saw.
In terms of "opportunities" given, it has easily been Marisnick>>>>Fisher>>Davis. Davis never got too much playing time when called up, and he showed steady improvement throughout the course of the season with the Astros. Many of his fly balls were well hit to the warning track towards the end of his last call-up, a big improvement over all those whiffs early in the season.
Jairo Solis picked up his first K of the season, decided they were cool, and got 6 more. Final line: 5IP 4H 1R 1ER 2BB 7K
Straw is very much your extreme Greg Gross, Juan Pierre type slappy hitter. He is very, very fast, and is a defensive weapon across the outfield. So his ability to poke singles through the infield is most certainly not his only asset.
Here's a nice read from the Corpus Christi Caller-Times about the Cubans who are currently playing for the Hooks.
Taylor Jones launched a solo homer of his own. He now has 11 on the season. Also, Randy César just doubled to extend his hitting streak to 33 games.
Alex De Goti homered twice for the Hooks, giving him 7 on the season. Riley Ferrell allowed a hit and struck out four in 2.1 innings to close out a 6-4 Corpus win; Ferrell earned his 5th save of the year.
Josh James vs. OKC: 6 IP, 3 H (solo HR allowed), 2 R (1 ER), 2 BB, 11 K James now has 91 strikeouts in 56 innings this season.
