I’m sure there’ll be a separate thread created later, but unsurprisingly Houston is not expected to sign any of the Top 30 international prospects. In the AL West, LA, Seattle, and the Rangers are each favored to sign 1 of the top 30. Oakland is not mentioned for any.
Oakland is also limited to 300k signings, so that's no surprise. I had thought there's a chance the Astros could float a guy they really like to next period, but the guys on that list are probably paid too well for that to work.
Hector Perez and Brandon Bielak combined on a 4-hit shutout for Buies Creek in their 3-0 win over Down East. Perez: 4.2 IP, H, 4 BB, 5 K Bielak: 4.1 IP, 3 H, BB, 9 K
Bielak now has 28k against 5bb in 4 appearances. Pretty incredible. Looking likely that he and Corbin Martin will be in AA by mid season and both guys will have a chance to rocket up prospect lists.
Bielak's 1.04 WHIP, 28/5 K/BB ratio, and 0.98 ERA this year are all actually downticks from what he put up last year in short season ball. Those two are worth watching for sure.
Until he escapes arbitration. Players have an amazing tendency to stop caring what the less fortunate are making when they are no longer one of them. Instead they merely complain that the owners are the only greedy ones.
Roman Garcia got put on the DL for QC, bringing Colton Shaver his first taste of full season ball. One has to assume Matijevic is suffering from a minor injury, not enough to warrant the DL, but he hasn't played since leaving one of the doubleheader games early last Saturday.
To further elaborate on Patrick Sandoval's outing: 5 IP, H, BB, 7 K Nice rebound effort for him after getting demolished in that 28-7 debacle last week.
Jonathan Arauz has a pair of two-run triples for Quad Cities. Adrian Tovalin and Jake Adams both have homers as they lead Kane County 10-5.
Yordan Alvarez hit his 4th homer of the season, a solo shot in the 3rd that gave Corpus Christi a 3-0 lead at that point. The Hooks currently lead Midland 4-0; Nick Tanielu and Randy Cesar both have RBI singles, while Alex De Goti has an RBI double.
Carson LaRue allowed his first run of the season, which snapped his scoreless innings streak at 17. He went 6 innings and allowed a run on a triple, walked 1, and struck out 7. Abraham Toro hit a walk-off 2-run homer for Buies Creek to give them a 3-2 win over Down East in 10 innings; Toro now has 3 home runs this season.
