Yordan Alvarez is the Future Astros First Baseman.Yordan is the best Lefty Power hitter since Berkman, Beltran, He hits to all fields hits home runs the opposite way, He hit an absolute monster home run, on a low slider. Yordan is Special. J.D. Davis level of play, he looks overmatched, he could be this years Colin Moran in that he could be traded for pieces
I think he is 6'5, 20 years old in AA, Comparisons are of David Ortiz when he was younger and thinner, David can hit the ball the other way. I really believe Kyle Tucker and Yordan Alvarez will be in the middle of the Astros Lineup one day, protecting Carlos Correa.
Ryne Birk went 5-5 last night. Kent Emanuel now has 16 k and 2 bb in 16 ip Taylor Jones is hitting .359 Ronnie Dawson has 8 SB Alfredo Angarita made his High A debut last night
If Davis is like Moran in that he can be traded for pieces, I hope one of the pieces is just like Gerrit Cole.
After 1 start with QC, the Stros reassigned Bukauskas to Tri-City yesterday. I guess that means he's going to Florida to work out at the complex, since TC doesn't start their season until the middle of June. No idea why, guessing it's related to the weather in the Midwest.
Not necessarily, the Astros reassign pitchers all the time to get around roster limits. Notice yesterday's starter, Cesar Rosado, started the season with QC, got reassigned to TC so Luis Garcia could join the team, and is back with the team now.
I do wonder why he was skipped in the rotation. I assume it is because he is nursing an injury or they just want to keep him from getting hurt in the cold weather.
Bukauskas could be rehabbing a injury, or build arm strength, Work on pitches, workout with trainers. Last year he was limited of pitch count, than shut down due to long season at College.
I get the feeling that the Astros tend to keep minor league injuries wrapped up as tightly as possible. I don't recall hearing about any injury concerns about Bukauskas, so guessing they're trying to keep him from being exposed to too much cold weather.
Anyway, since Quad Cities is playing two sets of doubleheaders, they're getting some reinforcements from extended spring training. Random: Tanner Duncan didn't play Division I baseball at East Carolina. He was on the club team, but never made it onto the varsity team. He's also a cousin of Mackenzie Gore, the 3rd overall pick from last year's draft.
Based on this I guess we can assume Tim Hardy, Kyle Serrano, Hunter Martin, and Alex House are injured.
I like Alvarez better as an OF, and I think the organization thinks the same. From what I hear he has the "athleticism" to cover a lot of field and good throwing.
LF Kyle Tucker, Marwin Gonzalez CF Jake Marisnick, Josh Reddick, Derek Fisher RF George Springer, No Room?
Alvarez won't hit MLB until at least 2019. I'd say for 2020 (Reddick's walk year), Springer, Reddick, Alvarez, Tucker. Dump Jake, trade Fisher for Hand.
My current expected replacement for each position player on Houston’s current 25 man roster: McCann : Stubbs 2019 Stassi : Perry 2025 Gattis : Davis 2019 Gurriel : Toro 2020 Altuve : n/a Correa : Nova 2023 Bregman : Perez 2024 Marwin : Tucker 2019 Reddick : Alvarez 2020 Springer : Dawson 2021 Marisnick : Straw 2020 Fisher : Celestino 2025
