I think I counted some 4 games in 6 nights/days but I have not seen any 4 games in 5, wow, did the league completely getting rid of this or we are just lucky? So, no more excuse for schedule loss?
Yes, you are right. So I just counted the B2B games of this coming season, the Rox will play 11 set of B2B games, the bad news is : All 11 set of back to back games will be played on 2 different cities : NO home court back to back games. "yes, there will be still 'schedule loss' excuses".
By a little past midpoint last season I stopped caring about losses altogether. I just wanted everyone to be healthy. As long as we're on a 60 win pace I'm not sweating schedule losses at all.
Are you saying he overplayed his players? Because we had eight guys average more than 25mpg, plus Gerald Green playing 22.7mpg. I'm not including Joe Johnson's 22mpg because he was here for such a short part of the season. It was the playoffs where the rotation was dreadfully short.
Looks like the schedule starts off pretty rough but closes a bit easier. It is going to be VERY important that the Rockets have a very good training camp and get on the same page with their new additions and rotations. IF the Rockets can weather the storm to start the season, they can put themselves in a good spot with the softer close of the schedule. Have a league low 12 B2B is nice. @The Cat does a good job breaking down the schedule in his latest podcast.
Other random schedule thoughts... Remember last year when the Rockets played Memphis 4 times by Thanksgiving? This year the Rockets play Indiana 2 times in November and then are done with them. Rockets play Detroit in a home & home in November and are done with them. Rockets play Spurs 3 times by December 22nd. Rockets play Utah 3 times by December 17th (could be chief rival to the #2 seed) Rockets play these teams only 3 times. Playoff teams Portland (2 home, 1 road) and Minnesota (1 home, 2 road) Lottery teams Phoenix and LA Clippers. Any other interesting trends that you see?
I don’t think MDA overplayed his players, but I don’t think him or Harden like the idea of resting against weaker opponents, it’s really a double edged sword, sometime we will see Harden played poorly after a 3-4 days rest without games, but sometime you can feel he was really exhausted. It is hard to say how should MDA rest his players, except for CP3 and Nene obviously.
