I feel bad for Savage and also feel bad for Watson even though it looks like he's starting. This is all on BoB. For Savage he was given literally 2 quarters before losing his job even though he was penciled in as a starter for the entire preseason. Does BoB have no confidence in his players? You have to give a QB more time in order to show what they can do. As for Watson, he is now thrust into a situation which he was never prepared for. It does not set up Watson to succeed. I'm just hopeful that BoB's botching of this QB situation doesn't stunt Watson's development and ruin him.
I can't hear "victory dance" without thinking of this Or more precisely, the true story behind that joke.
Watson will commit 3 turnovers and BOB will apologize for sending him out on a bum ankle i.e. "That's on me, I have to do better".
Just put in Savage to throw from the pocket and Watson to run play action. Problem solved. They can combine to be almost as good as Brock.
as dumb as the Texans are, refuse to believe they are dumb enough to start Watson until it comes out of O'Brien's mouth
True enough to his history, DW4 always wins the starting job in his 1st year wherever he goes. I'm as surprised as you are. I would have wanted to wait a few more games, but you've gotta admire his courage (gumption?) ill-prepared as he is. I think he will elevate the play of his teammates around him, as he has always done. Don't expect him to be perfect. There will be interceptions and picks. But we've gotta throw our full support behind him. Savage was more accurate throwing but he couldn't elevate his game when needed. I think BoB is on his way out. Sooner or later.
Anger management class I don't think anyone expects Watson to be perfect, after seeing some of those throws last week. It's going to be a long season if his accuracy doesn't improve. I'm not a college ball fan, so not watching him play in college I just expected him to have a better arm than he does from all the hype in here.
I'm not a fan of throwing this kid to the wolves. He's gonna develop happy feet with this OL. Become the next David Carr. What other option do we have at this point though?
Someone I know that is very heavy into gambling (he does it as his employment and he is well off) just put a lot of money on Savage playing at least 15 snaps Thursday.
I feel bad about the financial hit he'll take. Just saying that because I don't understand why being a pro gambler for a living makes you an insider, or anything other than a half-wit.
