Perfect spot for him. No pressure to be a national championship contender every year and he can be free of the influences of the Red McCombs of the world.
I'm a Charlie Strong fan and think he should've gotten the chance to finish out his contract despite losing to Kansas. But, what did McCombs have to do with Strong not being able to field an above .500 team? Charlie was in over his head at UT.
He deserved next year. He had to spend the first couple of years cleaning up the program and last year had a freshman QB. I'm all for giving a HC a fair shot. There's a case to be made for any HC that loses to Kansas should be fired on the spot and not allowed to fly back with his team. LOL
My point was that USF likely doesn't have the pressure and commitments that come with being the UT coach and the boosters that influence just about every decision. I wasn't blaming McCombs directly. Just saying Strong will be in a position he's better suited to succeed in. Sheesh.
Yeah, I could see that as well..especially if Strong has a Louisville-like run at USF while McElwain has a solid run at Florida but doesn't make the playoffs.
Lane Kiffin is headed to Conference USA to be head coach of Florida Atlantic. I feel pretty sure that Saban wanted him gone and he had to take the best job he could find. http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...-kiffin-next-head-coach-florida-atlantic-owls
Saban wanted him gone? It seemed more like Kiffin didn't want to deal with Saban anymore to me. I'm sure they both hate each other equally though. Kudos to Saban for going out and bringing in guys he hates I guess.
Yea, I'm sure Kiffin was ready to go as well. It's hard to fault Saban for things given how successful he has been but chewing out Kiffin on the sideline and talking about it after the game like he did seemed very unprofessional. However, how do you call the definition of professional success unprofessional? It just seems like he would be first in line for any SEC openings next year and you could very well see that with one of the Mississippi schools.
I'm shocked that Lane Kiffin wore out his welcome somewhere. Even more shocked that the next job he could get was at FAU.
Same problem, different coach. Lowell Narcisse decommits from LSU, second quarterback to reconsider in month http://www.espn.com/college-footbal...su-tigers-second-quarterback-reconsider-month

Awesome recap. The last 2 years just show how few P5 Head Coaches are actually worth poaching and/or willing to leave their school. Texas, LSU, Oregon, Georgia, Miami, USC, Virginia Tech all went the coordinator or G5 Head Coach route. Believe the 2 last P5 Head Coaches to leave for greener pastures was Mike Riley, Jim McElwain, and Paul Chryst.
