Its so crazy to think how organized and civil its been in Houston and Texas in general and then you go over to the Louisiana side and its chaos and madness. Louisiana gonna Louisiana.
I am sure it's more profitable and convenient for the Rangers to stay with the same schedule-- fans with tickets already sold and season ticket holders would complain and demand refund, trying to sell the same number of tickets within the next few days would be difficult. There could be some financial deals worked out for the Astros to compensate Rangers for their loss, but I can see why the Rangers wouldn't want a straight switch.
Last I heard, that hotel was being used as a makeshift shelter, it's been quite a while since then so the water might have risen in that time.
I remember seeing after Katrina some hardwood floors warped but I also remember seeing some floors looking fine. Keep in mind though that in Katrina some houses were flooded as long as three weeks. I'm not really sure about how much water a finished hardwood floor will absorb in a flood and my guess if only submerged a day or so might be OK but I really don't know. It might be a good question to post on a home builders board.
money and events. Like maybe honoring HOFer Pudge Rodriguez has been planned for the series against us and the switch would screw it up. Also if the RAngers know Tampa Bay is an option then of course I can understand them not wanting to sacrifice.
I have an elderly family member who can't drive out of her neighborhood. Her neighborhood is under mandatory evacuation. I think she is too scared to go to a shelter by herself -- any suggestions at all? I'm over 1,000 miles away and feel totally helpless. She's being stubborn and is scared, and is therefore making a bad decision. Aside from constantly trying to convince her to call for a rescue vehicle to transport her to the nearest shelter, any suggestions? I suppose worst care scenario I can call one on her behalf and see if they can force her out?
Have here turn off the power at the circuit breaker, if the interior is going to flood. Calling 311 is probably the best thing to due for non-emergencies.
This is where things get dangerous with all sorts of rumors. I don't know whether these guys are true or not but if it comes down to a situation of your life and your family's versus your posessions take the rescue. If these guys are really going and rescuing people out of dangerous high water situations then they've rescued you even if their motives aren't pure. If they're greedy and dumb enough to go back to a very dangerous situation to loot then that is on them. At the minimum your life is saved.
