In their defense, there wasn't exactly a place to play Davis on a regular basis until Moran got called up. Reed, Tucker, White, Kemmer and Moran was quite the logjam.
Probably due to new spot opened by Moran coming up. Since Correa is out til September, I'd expect Moran to be up for the remainder of the year after rosters expand, so Davis should be at AAA for the rest of the year as well.
Corpus will be trotting out the feared McCall-Nunez-Michelena-Mayfield infield. There isn't anyone in the BC IF that looks ready to promote, but I could imagine Birk or DeGoti getting the call.
GCL Astros won a rain-shortened contest 5-0 over the Mets today. Corbin Martin: 3 IP, BB Brandon Bielak: 2.1 IP, H, BB, K One game after hitting for the cycle, Jose Benjamin goes 3-3.
Ronnie Dawson just homered twice in the 2nd inning for Quad Cities. He now has 12 home runs on the year.
Josh Rojas yet again... he just hit a 2-run homer which makes it 6 homers in his first 15 games as a pro. He's a triple shy of the cycle in the 3rd inning.
Cameron 3-4 with a triple and a homer. Now has 10 HR and 22 SB with an OPS in the upper 700s and wRC+ 15% above league average.
Jack Mayfield with a HR. Given they don't have any other real SS prospects in the upper levels, I would like to see him be the everyday SS in AAA for 40-50 games. He's been old for every level but has generally put up good numbers and has conquered AA. Id rather them see what he can do in Fresno than continue to trot out Reid Brignac.
Ben Rosenthal is the River Bandit's hitting coach. Somebody helped Daz Cameron to turn himself around. Someone has the River Bandits hitting like they are two levels above low A. And I don't see it as one player having something click and sparking the rest of the team. They are hitting and winning a lot of games lately So is Ben Rosenthal a genius? Is it a statistical fluke? Is there a roving hitting coach out there who is getting the Astros, the Grizzlies and the Bandits to hit? Have the Astros stumbled onto the holy grail of hitting instruction and it's trickling through the farm system? I don't know, but I like it.
His season OPS is now up to .767. He's been really bad for one month, decent for two months, and on fire for almost a full month. Looks like he is lower in his stance and shortened his swing.
