Quick question. If the number 4-seeded team ultimately played the number 6-seeded team, would home field for that game be determined based on seeding or which team had the better record?
Just to clarify, I know the Texans' first round game is at home no matter what. I'm talking about a potential AFC title game matchup between the Texans and a #6 seed. If the #6 seed has a better record than the Texans, would that game be in Houston by virtue of Houston's higher seeding, or at the #6 seed's stadium by virtue of the #6 seed's better record?
Great. Thanks for clarifying. Since the #1 team gets the lowest seeded team in Round 2 after the bye, I'm rooting for: (1) NE to be the #1 seed and Oakland to be the #2 seed; (2) the Texans to beat the #5 team in Round 1: (3) the #6 team to beat the #3 team in Round 1; and (4) the #6 team to beat NE and the Texans to win at Oakland in Round 2. Ideally KC is #6, as I think they're more capable than Miami of beating Pittsburgh and NE on the road in the playoffs. So, tomorrow we need Miami to beat New England in MIA, Denver to beat Oakland in DEN, and San Diego to beat Kansas City in SD. A bit of an unlikely trifecta but at least they'll all be at home. Houston would host Miami in Round 1. This route would give the Texans their best shot at an opportunity to play in the first-ever AFC title game in our city, followed by a Houston team's first-ever Super Bowl appearance.
Looks like it will be Oakland in round 1. I guess the chance to go to KC in round 2 is better than losing to them in Houston in round 1.
Then we'd potentially have to hear Texans fans complaining that there's no point in making the AFC championship game because they'll just lose to the Patriots.
The Texans, like the Patriots and Cowboys, are guaranteed 2 home playoff games as long as they keep winning games in the playoffs
Funny how dungy and Harrison have no confidence in the Texans. Dungy said 2-0 raiders win. Texans are still a laughing stock. Trash coaching and mediocre drafting / signings. McNair gets one playoff game. Money and back to another off season with the same outcome.
Texans vs. Raiders. Each fan base is probably glad to get to see the other team for their first play off game. Wouldn't be suprised either way Can you blame anyone for picking against the Texans? Look what happened the last time they faced a 3rd string rookie. Even though this game is at home I can definitely see the Texans losing. The offense and/or the special teams will probably turn it over multiple times and allow a short field for the Raiders to get cheap scores and that will be it.
