Good thing they have the right coach that's able to get the most out of what he's given... regardless of their depth (or lack thereof) or their successful or unsuccessful draft picks. Next man up philosophy is strong here and in New England.
YOU ARE SPEAKING THE TRASH. THE QUARTHERBACK IS FINE AND WE HAVE THE HOYER AND THE WEED. WE STEAL FROM CLEVELAND IN SPECIAL MOVE. WE TAKE FROM THE SEATTLE AND GET THE DANIELS.
I could see this team win 6 or 7 out of 8 at home and steal 2 or 3 on the road. I could see 7-9, 8-8, 9-7, or 10-6 which is competitive especially if you win early.
2016 Houston Texans Opponents Yes yes, this season isn't over, but here is what the coming season looks like. Home Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Kansas City, San Diego, Chicago, Detroit, Cincinnati Away Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Denver, Oakland, Green Bay, Minnesota, New England Brutal road achedule. Let's make this current season longer!!!
Anything less than 6-2 at home will be a disappointment. Assuming we finally get a qb I'm going with 11-5
To properly rate any player you have to go beyond stats and use film as well. But if you just want some guidelines, Today the average is somewhere around 260 passing yards per game and above 64% completion percentage with a QB rating in the 90's. If you can hit on all 3 then you are most likely at least average.
Mallett is nowhere near an average QB, better than Hoyer sure, but you can be a lot better than Hoyer and be nowhere near average. Okay....and?
Let's see...he started 5 games where he played the majority of the game. He threw for 260+ twice. He completed 64%+ once. His rating was 90+ once. All 3 happened in one game once. His record was 2-3. Much worse than Hoyer.
