Thank you. Flawed team or not, I'd love to be lining up a 27-yarder to move into the second round of the playoffs. The original point was that a TERRIBLE 49ers team beat a team 20-3. That team that lost ended up within a chippy of the 2nd round. Flawed team or not, the point remains the same. If the Texans lose to the Bears this weekend, it doesn't mean we can start scouting who's going #1 overall. We, in fact, could still make the playoffs and possibly advance... like last year's Vikings. We get it bro, you don't think Bridgewater is very good, but the Broncos comparison by rezdawg is extremely apt.
Why is there an OR between John Simon and Clowney? As good as Simon has been this preseason, he better not be splitting that much time with Clowney, based off Clowney's athleticism and off season hype alone.
It's not what I think, it's what the numbers say. Also, I'm just pointing out that you can't compare a flawed team that relies on the RB to be basically all of their offense to the Texans. Flawed teams like that are going to have bad outings when the one guy they have on offense doesn't produce.
I think it depends on the defense they are going with. I expect to see Clowney and Simon on the field at the same time quite often. Also it wouldn't shock me if they don't use Clowney as an every down player at least to start the season.
Really why should there even BE these EGGSHELL conditions and filtering processs to posting to begin with? Instead of just having a regular running thread without worry. Thats SQUARELY on the people for BRINGING those unfavorable conditions and hazards in the forum. Shouldnt be avoiding ANYTHING cuz of them. THEY can LEAVE or seek counseling (Past that, those ARE Non-Texans so theyre not too relevant for current discussions anyway. Maybe a "Former Texans" thread is needed like in the Astros forum)
Man just go with your gut feeling. Seems to work pretty good for me. Lol In this pickem league I went 12-4 last year.
If people would simply be MATURE adults and discuss things INTELLIGENTLY, it wouldn't be a PROBLEM. Unfortunately that's TOO much to ask a LOT of the time. AS it stands, it's PROBABLY best to deal with the FACT that some people are here solely to TROLL and others aren't capable of INTELLIGENT discussion without getting UPSET. We DO have a PROBLEM with threads getting DERAILED, but hopefully that'll CHANGE as the regular SEASON goes on and there is more NEW material to TALK about.
Yeah, the thing is this list keeps adding up. Can't mention Bridgewater, can't mention Jameis, can't mention Clowney if he gets injured, can't mention XSF struggles, can't mention that Will Fuller is doing well despite "small hands." The list goes on and on
This is why the advanced stats nerds don't like trading up. Too much risk. . I don't think we'd trade 3 picks for a backup and situational redzone target if we had to do it over
So your holding it against them that they have a stout defense and one of the best running backs in the game? They're not flawed when their team is built around keeping the other team from scoring and pounding the rock on the ground, along with a manager at QB. They are setting out to do exactly as they planned...build a defense that can pitch shut outs, and have a ground game that is hard to stop.
Lots of analyst haven't seen our WR core this preseason. I think if our defense is remotely close to last years then this team improved tremendously.
I'm holding it against them that a RB was essentially their entire offense. When I called them a flawed team it was because if the running game wasn't working, they had no other offense. They were basically the Texans of last year if Arian Foster had been healthy and if the Texans didn't have anything at WR. Sure that'll win a lot of games, but it's still a flawed team.
Well, pretty much every team in the NFL is flawed. It's a matter of having strengths that are too much for the opponent to handle. The point is, sure, the Vikings are a flawed team...but they are still a very good team.
The Patriots with Brady are always going to be a tough beat...however, all the other playoff teams from last year are beatable...Broncos, Bengals, Steelers, Chiefs. Not saying we'd beat them all, but come playoff time, Im not really scared of any of them. I think, if we can stay healthy, we can beat any team. Our offense is just so much more improved...and I think teams will have a difficult time trying to stop our defense and trying to move the ball on offense. Outside of OLine, we are a very well balanced team with elite players at skill positions.
I think they were trading up for Tyler Lockett, but had to settle for Strong when the Hawks jumped them.
