Texans are starting to get hyped up throughout the league. We have a ton of talent. off topic, I think Cushing out plays his contract this year. They should be fighting it out with Denver as the best defense if Watt can be himself this year.
I do not see how Weeden (or someone like him) does not make the 53 man cut as the 3rd QB. The Texans the last two seasons have had trouble keeping QB1 and QB2 healthy and productive. Other than that it is hard to argue with SoT 53 man roster. As casual fans, some of the last cuts have more to do with special teams play than we consider.
They only took two last year. Weeden hasn't been playing and Savage has looked fine so I'm sure they are comfortable with him as the backup. If anything you want a 3rd QB to be a developmental guy, not just another veteran. They save some money on the cap by cutting him and there is a good chance that he or someone like him will be available should they need to go get a vet. Let's not pretend that Weeden is anything special. OBrien has gotten solid production basically out of every QB he's run through his system except for Ryan Mallett so I would not cut a WR or a RB that you want to keep in order to pay Weeden $1million for nothing.
Yeah but the way I see it, if you have that much injury problems at QB, you could always pick Weeden back up off the couch later, it's not like he's gonna get a job elsewhere. Hell for that matter, why not pick up TJ Yates? With as much talent as the Texans have at the WR and RB positions, those roster spots are at a premium, I'd cut Weeden to keep an extra RB or WR.

Weeden doesn't need to take up a roster spot. That's a total waste when we could keep something that can actually help us. Also, I wouldn't be upset if Shorts doesn't make it...i also wouldn't be upset if he makes it, so I'm indifferent there.

He's not worthless, his skills just don't fit this team. He's an awesome goal line, third down back but he has no speed. If he's cut I hope he catches on he can be a solid player
