Those aren't excuses…those are actual facts from the game. His receiver dropped a perfectly thrown TD pass…two of his picks were tipped balls…and one of them hit the ground, but refs missed it.

He didn't have a stellar game…he definitely had moments of struggle. However, he made some great throws and showed that his arm talent is going to be way up there.

If you're fimiliar with Baylor's system you know he's not a pro prospect.

    See: BJ Symons, Graham Harrell

Graham Harrell was the most accurate college QB I'd ever seen, but couldn't learn an NFL playbook well enough to get off the practice squad. He's coaching with Leach now...

Russell is accurate, can make just about any throw, has good touch, runs a 4.5 40. He has enough tools to work with.

Not because he isn't doing well. They take him out because he has already done the work. Like yesterday, he had already beaten Penn St.. Coaches just wanted to get the other QB'S in the game or else they wouldn't play at all.

I really can't tell if you are joking or not, he's been benched for sucking twice so far this season.

I love his running ability. Deceptively fast as hell at his size.

He's talented. But Baylor's offense, as explosive as it is, isn't complicated. He basically either hands it off to a stud running back, or throws it to a wide open stud WR.

Btw, although I hate Baylor with a burning passion, I'm not meaning that as a slight to him (or his team). As a Tech fan, I hate the term "system QB" but unfortunately I think it aplies here. It won't for their next QB though. Stidham has NFL potential.

Sorry coachbadlee, Cardale Jones has been benched for J.T. Barrett.

    [rQUOTEr]Cardale Jones, QB, Ohio State, RJr. (6-5, 250, 4.76, #12)
Although he's completing 62-percent of his passes and has more touchdowns (7) than interceptions (5), Jones has disappointed this season, not because he's regressed, but because he looks exactly the same as last season, failing to show any development or improvement as a passer. And his struggles will likely land him on the bench in favor of J.T. Barrett moving forward. Most thought Barrett was the better fit over the summer to be the Ohio State starter, but Urban Meyer opted for Jones, who has started the first seven games in 2015. There is no questioning his physical tools with elite size and arm strength, including enough mobility to move the pocket and pick up chunk yardage with his legs when needed. But his game lacks sophistication as he struggles to anticipate or read defenses, relying instead on receivers popping open and then firing the ball as hard as he can so it arrives before the defender. Some will say Jones lost money by returning to school instead of going pro last season, but in reality, he was always a developmental prospect who likely would have been drafted somewhere in rounds two through four, similar to his projection for the 2016 class.[/rQUOTEr]

    [rQUOTEr]Paxton Lynch, QB, Memphis, RJr. (6-6, 230, 4.95, #12)
Despite an early 14-0 deficit, Memphis scored 31 unanswered points and held on late for the 37-24 upset of No. 13-ranked Mississippi as Lynch rose to the occasion against a fast SEC defense, which is exactly what NFL scouts were hoping to see. His fifth straight 300-yard passing performance, Lynch finished 39-for-53 for 384 yards, three touchdowns and one interception – his first turnover through the air since last year's bowl game. Entering the season, NFL evaluators viewed Lynch as an intriguing prospect, but weren't yet sold because most of his production and positive tape came against unimpressive competition. Last year against Ole Miss, he completed only 41.9-percent of his passes for 81 yards and one interception, putting doubts in the minds of scouts. But it was the opposite this season as Lynch looked unfazed against the Rebels, showing poise, mobility and pinpoint accuracy. He thrives in Memphis' offense, which includes a lot of wide receiver screens and in-breaking routes, but he was also consistent down the field when needed, finishing 12-for-15 for 141 yards on third downs. Lynch isn't a flawless prospect as he needs to work on his footwork, touch and continue to add weight to his build. But with continued development, Lynch could be this year's version of Blake Bortles if he declares for the draft – a prospect from the “non-power-five” conferences who checks a lot of boxes for NFL evaluators in an average quarterback class.

    __________________________________

Paxton Lynch/QB/Memphis: Entering the season I graded Lynch as a free agent giving him high marks for arm talent but feeling he needed to improve his decision making. Thus far this season the junior has eased my concerns. After a soft schedule to begin the year Lynch has been on a tear and looked very much like a next level signal caller against Mississippi. He was the catalyst for the Tigers victor, completing almost 74% of the 53 passes he tossed for 384 yards and 3 scores. Lynch threw one interception, his first of the season. The Rebels have almost a half dozen draft picks on defense and for the most part Lynch picked them apart. In six games this season he has completed more than 70% of his throws and has 13 touchdown passes to his credit. Lynch offers next level physical skills and is developing into a total passer. With Memphis presently undefeated and fighting for the AAC title the watch is on to see if Lynch decides to enter the draft.[/rQUOTEr]

[rQUOTEr]A lot of college football fans (and NFL scouts) understandably made up their minds about QB Jeff Driskel (6-4, 234, 4.78, #6) and his NFL future after he flamed out at Florida. But as a graduate transfer at Louisiana Tech this season, he has reinvented himself as a legitimate NFL prospect and looks a lot more comfortable. Driskel has the physical tools with his size/athleticism profile and is playing with much more confidence from the pocket. He did a nice job on Saturday against Mississippi State, completing 61-percent of his passes (25-for-41) for 303 yards and a pair of touchdowns. When watching the 2015 edition of Jeff Driskel, eliminate your preconceived notions for a moment and evaluate him based off this year's film because prospects do improve and get better. Driskel isn't an early round pick, but he could be this year's version of Garrett Gilbert, who was a top high school quarterback recruit at Texas, but proved to be a bust for the Longhorns and later transferred to SMU. And largely because of his physical skill-set, he was drafted in the sixth round of the 2014 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans and is currently a member of the Oakland Raiders' practice squad.

    __________________________________

One quarterback that’s getting second looks after being ignored coming into the season is Jeff Driskell of Louisiana Tech. The Florida transfer has looked much more comfortable and decisive this season throwing from the pocket. He’s had several solid performances against good competition, including last week’s loss to Mississippi State. A trip to the Senior Bowl could be in the cards for Driskell and he could land in the late rounds of the draft.[/rQUOTEr]

[rQUOTEr]Immediately after my report from a week ago stating quarterback Cody Kessler of USC was receiving last day grades, additional sources informed me those grades were of the late (6th/7th) round variety. A number of insiders tell me Max Wittek, the former Trojan quarterback that’s struggled at Hawaii this season, is a better pro-prospect than Kessler based on his physical skills. And while I believe that is debatable sources at USC believe back-up Max Browne will eventually develop into a better pro-prospect. Rest assured this is not a vendetta against Kessler, a very good college quarterback, rather purely a projection for the next level.[/rQUOTEr]

    [rQUOTEr]Wentz Out 6-8 Weeks

North Dakota State head football coach Chris Klieman today announced starting quarterback Carson Wentz will miss six to eight weeks with a broken bone in his throwing wrist.

Wentz sustained the injury during last week’s 24-21 home loss to South Dakota but was able to finish the game. He went 16 of 28 passing for 195 yards and two touchdowns against the Coyotes.

Initially thought to be a sprain, further tests Monday and Tuesday confirmed a non-displaced fracture. Wentz will have surgery Wednesday.

“Carson means a lot to this program both on and off the field, and nobody on this team is more disappointed about this setback than he is,” said Klieman. “We’re still going to count on him to help lead this team and mentor our younger players.”

Wentz passed for 1,454 yards and 16 touchdowns in the first six games this season. Last year, he set NDSU single-season records for completions (228), attempts (358) and yards (3,111) while passing for 25 touchdowns.[/rQUOTEr]

When a system QB ends up being a beast, we'll regret passing on him. Putting things in such a simple vacuum isn't a good way to go about things.

Does he have the following things?

    Size (height and weight)
    Accurate arm
    Strong arm
    Speed (mobility and running ability)
    Smarts
    Pocket presence

He has it all. He can develop other things over time.

You're right though about Stidham. He has #1 overall talent.

    Btw, Sic em.

The report says likely. Also, I would much rather draft him in the 2nd-3rd round. They need to bolster the OL with their 1st. Right now I'm thinking Leramy Tunsel in the 1st.

Cardale probably won't even be drafted at all so if anyone wants him they can sign him as a free agent after the draft is over with. When you aren't even the best QB on your college team, the odds of you making it in the NFL are basically non-existent.

Not joking. Cardale Jones is not really an NFL QB prospect, he's barely a college level QB.....and not a good enough one to hold on to his job at his school.

He has the tools. That alone will get him drafted, even if only as a project. See: Logan Thomas. He may not be thought of as a 1st round pick anymore, but because of his physical skills, he'll still go above the scrubs that go at the end of the draft.
