You don't have to be a Rockets fan to be a fan of Hakeem. Just like I was a big Kevin Garnett fan, but was never a Wolves fan.

Race is one influence. Ivy League is another. Both are very rare in the NBA.

I dislike his lunatic fan base, too. The non-lunatic fans are good, tho.

For a 'fan of Hakeem' you never talk about him on this board
Hakeem is talked about all the time

I didn't like him as a player, especially when he was with the Rockets
he would run into the lane without any plays and run back out
he do those jump passes without determining who he wants to the pass the ball to resulting into turnovers
he would not pay attention to the play clock, which had horrible consequences
he is not aware of game time situations, like end of game
    his shot is inconsistent
he was horrible in the clutch, air ball vs miami etc
he could not handle the pressure, going to twitter after bad games and complain
he was injury prone, he got a bruised chest vs OKC in the playoffs

the things he does well is driving to the basket, pick and roll, and fast breaks
    that's about it
    his defense was average

I don't think its appropriate to talk about Hakeem in a thread about Lin.

i'm implying you never talk in the Rockets discussion area because you don't care about the Rockets or Rockets history
    with the exception of Lin.

If Clutchfans ever banned Lin talk, we would still come here.

Of course I care about the Rockets and Rockets history. 3 of my all-time favorite players played for the Rockets.

I don't believe you. Caring about the Rockets doesn't mean you like 3 players from random eras, it means you follow the team and care if they win or lose.

No, that's being a fan of a team. Caring about a team doesn't need to be as fanatic as being a fan.

Lin played well in only 21 mins last night in their first back to back win of the season. 13pts 3rb and 5 asst. Looks like Brooklyn is a much better team when lin is playing but I still feel they would be at most a 30 win team this season if Lin was not injure so much.

Yeah, though to be fair, Phoenix is definitely in "development mode" and basically played their second unit for the whole game. But the Nets definitely need more quality players. It definitely hurt when the Nets weren't able to sign their other top targets in FA last summer. They have a lot of cap space for next season ($30M?), so hopefully that gives them the ability to improve the roster. That said, LeVert has been a pleasant rookie surprise, and Whitehead has improved dramatically since the start of the season (perhaps a silver lining from Lin's injury, giving Whitehead a lot of playing time to accelerate his development).

Glad last night was a blowout, giving the starters lower minutes so they are more rested for the back-to-back tonight...

You might want to take a look at the lineup Phoenix trotted out before celebrating. It was so bad it managed to get mention on not only ESPN but numerous other shows (Mike and Mike and Dan Patrick and we aren't even at noon). It was called "embarrassing", "shameful", "worst probably of all time" and "the NBA needs to do something about this".

For a team like the Nets, any win no matter who it is against is a positive.
