No Astros players taken in the Major League phase. A little bit surprising that no one bit on Teoscar.
Gustave, Musgrove, Paulino all would have definitely been taken had they not been protected, probably Fontana too. Management got it right this year.

The Astros took some pitcher named Octavio Acosta from the Mets in the AAA phase of the rule 5 draft. They passed on their second pick. Interesting to note the Angels took former $2.6m Astros international FA Ariel Ovando from the Cubs.
Of course you are, we're talking minor league moves. That's his thing. You don't expect to out twitter JR, and you don't scoop Tellit on the minor league news.
very cool. Looks like Management did their homework and protected the right guys. After all the hype that 3-5 Astros could be selected, its surprising to see ZERO poaches from our farm system, but I'm not complaining.
Good way to keep the talent. Make the tough choices before your feet are tied. And at least add something to the system with low A ball prospects. Dealing Villar and Hoes before 40 man rosters were set was proactive.
They took a risk on a few guys, and I'm surprised Devenski wasn't taken, but there wasn't a guy like DDJ being left unprotected this year. The guys we left unprotected were more like Rollins or Gustave. Guys with lower ceilings (Devenski), but maybe MLB-ready and high ceiling, but extremely raw guys (Hernandez, Guduan).
Spent time in the Mexican League last year, I am sure that is where the Astros saw him. I have only seen him one time, nothing special that I noticed. Slight in size, fastball in the high 80's and a very slow slider that moves a lot. He MUST spot his fastball to get guys out.
