Actually agree with you. Well I wouldn't say amazing production. Good production and mediocre bars. Only two noteworthy songs on it for me- "It's all on me" and "Medicine Man".
Drake and Future dropped a collabo yesterday WATTBA Here's the link if you don't want to listen through itunes http://www.datpiff.com/Drake-Future-What-A-Time-To-Be-Alive-mixtape.735977.html I'm kinda "blasé" about it. Feel it's kinda overhyped by the fans of both on social media and music websites/blogs. People seem to love the beats and verses by both but I'm not that enthralled by either. Only track I was feeling was the last one- "30 for 30 freestyle".
Future is actually a pretty good writer. Check it out: http://watchloud.com/songs-future-wrote-or-helped-write/2/
Yes but I think SK34 was probably referring to him as a musician. I lean towards the -People are just amused by mediocrity- side. Just not a fan of his work.
A few initial thoughts: It's weird for an artist of Drake's stature to do a tape with somewhere where he mostly tries to get on their vibe. Future gets away with a lot because of his slurry style that he shouldn't if you really listen. Do people like Future as an MC or just because of his vibe/slur? Also, wish the production didn't lay too heavily on the snare.
^ Damn they already removed it from Datpiff. I really do not want to buy this tape, as I heard it was mediocre but I do want to listen. I might sign up for my 3 month trial on Apple Music just to listen but that seems silly.
Watch the Throne had lots of moments. This one seems like one moment blurred together. This was all about riding the Future wave versus trying to do something substantial.
Future is as all about club bangers. Nobody really listens to his music because it moves you or is full of lyrical intricacies. If that's what you're looking for I suggest you jam J. Cole or K Dot. Drake is on his own hype train as well. His IYRTITL album was pretty good all around and now on top of that he won a rap beef between him and a Philly guy with street cred and an aggressive style with like 1 and a half songs. They're both riding each others fame wave at this point. But if you're looking for substance of any sort, you're looking in all the wrong places.
