    Here is a scary thought:

Urban Meyer will have 11 days to prepare for this game.

To end the year last year, he had fewer days than that, and he got beat. Then he had more days than that, and he got beat again. Scary.

Oregon. Held to 14 points? By Ohio State?

And if 12 Gauge Jones has another good game like he had against Alabama and beats the Ducks... He may beat Mariota again in the draft.

While the college football playoff is nice, it wount be legit until there's 8 teams. 8 teams is the perfect amount. Hope it happens next year.

Well, Oregon's top 2 WRs are now out for this game (injury; suspension). They are going to have a lot of players in unfamiliar positions in an offense that's built around precision and timing.

Legit is in the eye of the beholder. During the entire BCS era, not once was anyone ever concerned with the fact that the #5 team in the country had no shot at winning the national title. However many teams you have, the next one left out will be controversial.

Let's say we expand to 8. If the #8 team can't win it, why are they in it in the first place? If the #8 team can win it, then it's just as reasonable that the #9 could have won it. Last year, the 7 would have been easy to pick. #8 would have been between a bunch of 10-2 teams in Mizzou, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Clemson, Okie State, and Oregon.

Clemson and Oklahoma beat teams in their bowl games that would have been in an 8-team playoff. And teams in the playoff like Baylor lost to teams that wouldn't have made it.

Injuries are a part of the game... Suspensions for drugs and testing is avoidable though.

It should not change the outcome of the game much and if it does you know who doesn't care.

Take it a step further: When you consider Bralon Addison and Pharoah Brown (who had a gruesome knee injury a few games ago), Oregon's top 4 receivers won't be playing.

Gotta go strongly with Ohio State. There is a breaking point and I think Oregon has reached it. Carrington had 14 receptions, 291 yards the last 2 games and they don't have anyone to replace that kind of production.

I completely disagree. Four teams is the perfect amount. Remember all the discussions about strength of schedule, and TCU vs Baylor, and conference champions, and the importance of statement wins late in the season? All of that is moot if 8 teams get in. Why should MSU or Wisconsin or UCLA or teams that were given opportunities to play for conference championships or beat the top 4 teams be given even another chance in the playoffs? Lets roll with 4 for a few years and see how it works.

The only extension I would have is play-in games for the 4th and maybe 3rd spot. The reason to potentially cover the power 5 champions and 1 at large. This year it would have been Baylor v OSU for the 4th spot or something.

Let's just enjoy how much superior the CFP is to the BCS. Maybe in 5-10 years they will expand it to 8. Maybe not.

Be glad we weren't stuck with an awful Alabama vs. Florida St. BCS title game and having to listen to SEC clowns gloat for another year.

the NCAA made a mistake by allowing both the Wild Card weekend and divisional weekend of the NFL playoffs to happen in between January 1st and the championship game

I'm more excited about this game than anything NFL all year. NFL crept up to my #1 sport a few years ago but has fallen off quickly. All it is now is flags, shock and awe headlines, commercials and manufactured storylines designed for a peabrain audience. The NBA has reclaimed its rightful throne with CFB locked down as #2 (thanks playoffs).

The only downside here is that the game could get out of hand fast just as easily as it could be competitive. I guess that can happen anytime Oregon is on the field.

Why can't the Championship game be on a Saturday like 99% of every other college football game?

It's absurd that college football is stretching into mid-January these days. There's just no need for it. Play the games a week after New Year's Day and be done with it.

I'd be okay with that. Unlike the NFL, the long wait takes away from the game. Drains the momentum.
