I'll admit that I initially thought all of the "lottery tickets" post round 10 were purely insurance in case one of our top guys didn't work out, but now that I am looking at the numbers I would actually be surprised if we don't land at least one of them.
Zac Grotz's (28) Twitter bio says "Greenville [sic] Astros." Texas A&M—Corpus Christi closer signs as undrafted free agent. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">NEWS: <a href="https://twitter.com/IslandersBSB">@IslandersBSB</a> closer <a href="https://twitter.com/JacobDorris38">@JacobDorris38</a> has signed free-agent deal with the <a href="https://twitter.com/astros">@astros</a> <a href="http://t.co/woESsDQCJZ">http://t.co/woESsDQCJZ</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/GoDers?src=hash">#GoDers</a> <a href="http://t.co/wAv1Jpir2M">pic.twitter.com/wAv1Jpir2M</a></p>— Islanders Athletics (@Go_Islanders) <a href="https://twitter.com/Go_Islanders/status/610501533369675776">June 15, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> 28 relief appearances, 1-2, 10 saves, 3.32 ERA, 40.2 IP, 29 H, 16 R (15 earned), 19 BB, 50 K, 1.19 WHIP, .199 opponent average
You don't see many "undrafted" MLB guys (as opposed to the other sports). Greatest undrafted MLB player ever? (Bobby Bonilla? Joe Thatcher?)
It would be hard to imagine Bregman playing hardball in negotiations. He won't go top 5 in next year's draft, so I'd say 5.5MM is well within reason, if not less.
Chances are, they probably already know Bregman's number and have an agreement. They had an agreement with Aiken last year within the first few days of the draft... same goes for Appel and Correa before them. The only hold up right now is the CWS.
If Bregman takes $5.5MM then we will be in business for one of Sandoval/Sands. Depending on how much Hermelyn signed for we should have around $1MM to offer one of those guys once you factor in overage and left over pool money.

Nice, that means $772,500 saved from the pool so far. Still looking for numbers on Thornton and Stubbs.
