I heard all the hype. Looked up his stats. Looked up how he did this year. I was actually surprised at how totally similar his stats were. I thought they would have been way up, the way everyone's acting. He averaged 12 points and three asists and his shooting percentages were actually LOWER than his career averages. So.... He's having a good playoff run here, but I wouldn't want him as a starter on my team if I really wanted to contend. Just being honest. Solid role player though. Sparkplug of the bench.
You may want to check his +/- for the season, and how he's got 8 of the 10 5-player group +/- of the Hornets despite being a reserve. That's his impact right there.
What he brings is the opposite of what Harden does...effort. Even when he's missing shots, he's hustling on D and trying. The Rockets need those kind of players (Beverly is one of those). Is Lin a 1st level star? Absolutely not. But he is a great teammate and match that gets lit every time he plays. Matter of fact, that's what a lot of the Hornets are...can't measure that with analytics Mr Morey.
His scoring was off for sure this season. His coaches have said that they have been changing his mechanics during the season, so they expect that his shot will improve once it becomes more natural for him. But one of the reasons why the Hornets have loved his contributions this season is because of his versatility...the Hornets went through a lot of injuries this season, and Lin has been able to play a lot of different roles...starting PG, backup PG, starting SG, backup SG, backup SF...he's played well in all of those roles. The variety of roles has contributed to some inconsistency in his output for sure...and the fact that his main role, backup PG, is behind a legitimate starting PG, definitely impacts his numbers. The other fact is that they have a SF in Batum who also handles the ball a lot...so his assist numbers will naturally be down, not because he isn't able to make plays, but because his role doesn't call for him to handle the ball as much.
You nail it!! Its the lofhs that are so dumb and deluional thinking anyone who is a fan of lin even if they have long been a rockets fan are lofs. Tinsatan is dumb and deluional. Ha.., he meet lin 2x and seen lofs.... he cringe because he must be a self hating uncle pham or pinoy half wanting acceptance by the Man. You can admit it tinsatan.
Nice game for Lin. This bench role suits him perfectly, and he's hitting a nice stride in the playoffs. For whatever reason, the Hornets have a little chemistry. I'm really surprised they're at 2-2, but Lin was a big positive for them last night. Good for him.
No two headed beast name can ever beat Scolandry!! Those were good times in Rocket history. Not great, because the team was just slightly above average only, but you can be a proud supporter knowing your players gave 110% every night.
Most posters here thought Landry was a bust after preseason, watching him get blocked in numerous occasions in the post. But he turned out to be a great pick relative to his draft position, and was a 4th quarter monster for us the season before he was traded.
Anyway, those were the good days for die hard fans. Not bandwagon fans that only appreciates a winning team. And those were the years when almost every Morey move turned out to be magic.
Houston really don't need any of them, as the PG role always reserved for James Harden. They are not going to stay long or productive standing around corner shooting 3.
