The time Carmelo was closest to win something is when he played with good leader in Chauncey Billups. The other time he played better is when he played with Jason Kidd. Melo would still follow the lead with the presence of players like Billups and Kidd, but I doubt if there's any can do that to Harden.
He changed his shot mechanics. It takes time. He has lower TOs mainly because he handles the ball even less compared to the past Rockets days.
I somehow doubt if good teams would welcome them to be the Robins, their style of play would ruins team's harmony. Winning team always share the duties on defense, even curry needs to show efforts. Teams like GSW or Spurs would always have choices and stay away from players like them.
And one more thing to notice: Lin as a starter for the Hornets: 17p + 4r + 5a + 3tov in 32 mins while shooting 46/46 % Lin as a starter for the Rockets(12-13): 14p + 3r + 6a + 3tov in 32 mins while shooting 44/34 %
This last two pages show how we deal with Tinman here. Just keep having conversations between posters here and ignore him, not reply to anything he writes, and he'll frantically try to insert himself into the conversations.
Tinman's hero is Vernon Maxwell whom he worshipped at the altar. Young Rocket fans should look up Vernon Maxwell and see what kind of a person Maxwell was. All this hatred for Lin can only be attributed to one thing and one thing only: his race! PS: Yao was faced with harsh discrimination earlier in his career too. I was called names and made fun of for supporting Yao even though I'm not Asian. This board has some serious bias against Asians.
See, this is another example of how poorly Lin was treated in Houston. He wasn't "demoted" in Houston...Patrick Beverley was a better fit to play 3-and-D with Harden while the Houston 2nd unit needed a playmaker, which gave Lin more opportunity to do that. Yet Houston fans and media kept portraying it as a demotion like Bev outplayed Lin for the job, and Rockets management and coaches never did anything to help correct public perception. I'll give kudos to McHale for actually proving that Lin was valued by the team by still giving him 28+minutes per game off the bench...but he always went out of his way to minimize Lin's contributions at post-game interviews and such.
Just ignore the guy. So we can have a proper conversation here. And watch him scramble to be a part of everybody's conversation.
tinman can't resist himself he craves attention when he's negleted. then when someone tries to have a conversation with him he tries his best to annoy them. he needs the Lin thread in his life
LOFs are rookified by Clutch for a reason and on top of that they are replying to their own posts like looney toons. The number of LOF population on Clutchfans should always be 0
When you are a starter getting 30 million dollars and get sent to the bench that's demotion when you are traded and your team gets basically nothing back, then the team doesn't need you
Considering those samples is not from a favorable system, teammate and coach , what would Lin's stats be when he finally has his own team in a favorable system play to his strength? Linsanity 2.0 is foreseeable.
I enjoy tinman's contributions here. He is entertaining! And no doubt he is a critical reason why we were able to achieve 10K+ posts in this thread. He is awesome.
Why is this relevant to Lin? Lin was earning $5M/year for the years he was with the Rockets, and his contract was $25M for 3 years. Maybe you could argue that he was earning $8M/year based on the cap number, but since we are talking about what happened to him in his 2nd year, the third year of his contract isn't relevant to the discussion. No question that Lin wasn't worth $15M for the year, especially based on how they were using him, so trading his expiring contract was a reasonable move. Not sure what this has to do with the decision to move Lin to the 2nd string to help the team.
