The Punch: One Night, Two Lives, and the Fight That Changed Basketball Forever. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/75650.The_Punch
Wrapped up The Republic of Thieves by Scott Lynch. While it did progress the overall story of Locke Lamora, I found the book a tad boring without much action. I'll still read the next book, though. I started Myke Cole's Shadow Ops series last week and couldn't put it down. I blazed through books one and two and picked up book three over the weekend. The series deals with a magic 're-awakening' in the modern world and the ramifications that surround it; political, moral, social, cultural, etc. The US government snaps up anyone who comes up with magical talents. Other countries around the world also have magic cadres. Good books with a lot of action. Book 2 had some irritating editing errors in the beginning and Cole, who is an army vet, seemed to change his plan for some of the characters but overall it's very engrossing.
I just finished Tower Lord, book 2 of the Raven's Shadow series. I'm on to Monster Hunter International: Nemesis, which is pure fun, gun p*rn and doesn't require much thought but the entire series is entertaining as hell to me. I recently tore through the Alera Codex series. Based on that surprisingly great series, the news of Jim Butcher going all in on an epic fantasy series has me really excited.
Except for the ending, right? No one likes the ending. Currently reading I Never Met A Story I Didn't Like by Todd Snider.

Finished The Light Between Oceans today...beautiful book, great story. Undecided on the next one. Do you guys have goals for number of books for the year? My aim was about 40...and Im behind. I think Im moving on to #18, so I need to play some catch up to hit my number by the end of the year. Give me good recs for books that are 300 or less pages, haha.
The second book in the "Chronicles of the raven". I had to get used to the series, I did not like the first book that much, and I almost stopped reading at the beginning of this book. But I am starting to get interested, So I will probably finish this series. Not sure If I will start with "The legends of the raven", that depends on how these next book and a halve ends up.
No, I do not set a goal. I read fot he plessure of the story, not to finish enough books. On top of that after every series I read I worry if I will find a great new fantasy series (since I always get the feeling that I read most of them) I read in the evening when my wife and Kid sleep, but during Basketball season I watch Basketbal games at this time, so I rarely read during those times, unless I have a great book. So I would never reach 40 books in a year (on top of that the books I read in general have over 1000 pages, so it is a bit difficult to read that much and still have a life outside of reading).
