Chicago! Is this the first time an all black team made it to the WS championship game? Let's see if Fox News or the Drudge Report a good story about black youths from Chicago! Play South Korea tomorrow.
Korea wins and are world champions. A good effort at a comeback attempt for Chicago, IL. They did not give up until the final out. A lot of potential for these kids from all 16 teams (Pearland, Chicago, Philly, Vegas, etc.) in this year's LLWS who want to be athletes at the college and pro level.
Also, I can see some movies/documentaries being made from this year's LLWS about the Chicago team, Rhode Island coach's speech, Mone Davis, etc.
....and the team from Chicago was busted for cheating and their US title has been stripped from them. http://espn.go.com/chicago/story/_/...s-chicago-team-us-championship-suspends-coach Little League Baseball has stripped the U.S. championship from Chicago-based Jackie Robinson West and suspended its coach for violating a rule prohibiting the use of players who live outside the geographic area that the team represents, it was announced Wednesday. Jackie Robinson West must vacate wins from the 2014 Little League Baseball International Tournament -- including its Great Lakes Regional and United States championships. [+] EnlargeJackie Robinson West AP Photo/Charles Rex Arbogast The Jackie Robinson West Little League team was ruled to have used players from outside its local area by recruiting players from neighboring districts. The team's manager, Darold Butler, has been suspended from Little League activity, and Illinois District 4 administrator Michael Kelly has been removed from his position. The organization found that Jackie Robinson West used a falsified boundary map and that team officials met with neighboring Little League districts in Illinois to claim players and build what amounts to a superteam. As a result, the United States championship has been awarded to Mountain Ridge Little League from Las Vegas. "Quite honestly, we had to do this," Little League International president and CEO Stephen D. Keener told ESPN on Wednesday. "We had no choice. We had to maintain the integrity of the Little League program. ... As painful as this is, it's a necessary outcome from what we finally have been able to confirm. When it comes to Jackie Robinson West losing their little league title, the punishment doesn't fit the crime as the kids suffer for the adults' choices. Story "The real troubling part of this is that we feel horribly for the kids who are involved with this. Certainly, no one should cast any blame, any aspersions on the children who participated on this team. To the best of our knowledge, they had no knowledge that they were doing anything wrong. They were just kids out playing baseball, which is the way it should be. They were celebrated for that by many, many organizations, many people. What we're most concerned about today is that it's going to be hard on these kids. And that's the part that breaks your heart."

This kind of cheating happens in EVERY select little league. Happens here in Pearland and Bellaire. If they investigated every team at he WS they'd find out very quickly how slimy little league parents are. You think Pop Warner is bad? Try Suburban little league were parents have money and live vicariously trough their children.
That barstoolsports.com report is an editorial and bad commentary on the part of the writer. To say REALLY? I'd rather lose 43-1 to someone who DOESN'T cheat and let my team be sucky as ever, but don't tell me that no amount of map changing would add to that. The team from Illinois was full of "hand-picked" and "cheated" stars. That's like getting Dream, Jordan, Stockton, Magic, and Barkley versus Paulfstk, ima_drummer2k, leroy420, and me. Come on, now. Let's DO IT! So investigate EVERYONE. The coach that "snitched" more than likely was NOT cheating.
it's hard to believe the kids on the team and their parents didn't know they'd been seeded with ringers. disappointing all around. But luckily, even by stripping the championship they cannot reverse the joy and exhilaration of the experience when it happened.
exactly. It's really awful that the Chicago team cheated like this and thought they could get away with it. Shameful behavior all around.
All around? What did the kids do that was shameful. It's not like there was a 16 year-old that played.
