Really physical Turkey Finland game in the 4th right now. A ton of fun to watch, especially with these FIBA announcers

Sucks that it's 3am Down Under...I have work at 8am, first day at new job, & I'm contemplating staying up to watch USA Game.

That's what it's like being a Basketball Junkie...

Unbelievable...Turkey was dead in the water, must be incredibly frustrating for Finland.

By the way, this game reminded me of everything I love and hate about Asik...

Don't feel too bad. I know people who will miss work just to attend just a live press conference.

    Oh, yes it is.

To my knowledge, we still have a chance to advance by beating NZ tomorrow if things go right for us. Bad news is we are totally dependent on Petteri Koponen and he looked really spent after the physical D by the Turks. Hopefully he can recover in time for the game tomorrow.

I hope so too! He's definitely one of the more fun players to watch in the tournament. The good thing about today's physical game is that Turkey will be dead tired as well. Asik in particular looked like a zombie.

So is it safe to assume you are Finnish? Until I saw the massive presence by the Finnish fans, I had no idea that basketball was even relevant in Finland! Of course it must take a backseat to hockey, haha

Yes, I'm a Finn. Our fan support is probably the ultimate reason why we got the wild card to the games and as such there was a very organized effort from the start of the process to ensure there is maximum amount of fans in the games as possible.

Sadly, this is still a hockey country to the core and the strong fan support to the national basketball team is there only as long as there is success (ie. big wins against "real" basketball countries). The domestic league isn't really popular, although there is some progress being made.

The real problem (like with most small countries) is our small pool of players and especially bigs. We really don't have much talent and can't afford to lose any talented players over 6'6" in the process. Volleyball is actually also more popular than basketball in Finland and many talented tall kids choose that instead which we can't really afford if we we want to be a consistently good European team.

    lo

Probably doesn't help that the U.S. team destroyed Finland.

Ok it is about time to watch Garcia against the U.S.

    Go U.S.! :)

Harden battling a guy for position enough to get a foul called. Hooray!

    Harden playing good.

DR shooting well to keep it close. I can't understand why they insist on taking it inside sometimes. Trying to draw fouls?

USA misses a whole lot of free throws.

Yeah for whatever reason our normally good free throw shooters are missing. Same with our 3 point shooters.

He was still Turkey's best player finished with 22 and 8,would have been a 30pt game for him if he would have made his freebies.

    Gonna miss him
