He sounds like a preacher trying to take my money.

    Or talk like Ray Lewis.

He sounds like something of a cross between an old preacher and a shermhead.

I think the other thing special about that game was that the stars all lived up to their billing. Leinart/Bush/Vince were all great. The offenses and defenses made great plays and the teams looked worthy of the hype.

This game was phenomenal in the 2nd half - but the 1st half was just ugly and didn't seem like a showcase outstanding football for FSU. It was FSU's offense sucking more than Auburn's defense dominating.

Which was stupid since UT averaged over 50 points a game, had (arguably) the best player in college football plus a bunch of other talented offensive players and actually had a legit defense (unlike USC). But the USC hype drowned all of that out and brainwashed people. It blew my mind. When ESPN started the discussion of USC's all-time greatness, I realized everyone was drunk on Kool-Aid.

I watched USC a lot that year, saw Leinart's 2nd half machine-mode perfection, etc, etc. But you have to play the game and the teams were fairly even.

USC should have been the favorite, but not overwhelming. My opinion was if UT trailed by more than one score in the 2nd half they had no chance. It was 38-28. Then it was 4th and 2. Then...

That postgame interview reminded me of the famous Michael Crabtree "I dreamed it in my head" interview. Incomprehensible babble
    [IMG]

What sealed it were the Auburn defenders running into each other on that short pass, leading to a 50 yard play. Then Winston could just lob it to the tall guy.

Credit to Jimbo, though -- that punt fake truly turned the game around.
