When Appel went all screwy, I said 'oh well, we got plenty of other high-upside pitchers'. Pitchers are relatively fungible; plus Power/Hit tool shortstops are not. Correa is a much bigger loss than Appel because there aren't any high upside middle infielders in the minors. There are plenty of 2-WAR upside guys though (Fontana, Kike Hernandez, Torreyes, Kemp).

I think Correa is a bigger loss, because he is clearly the more talented player even at his young age. He is potentially a huge loss. Everything about him reeked of future all star. I still put my money of Carlos coming back 100% at the plate, my concern is will his developing speed come back and will he be moved from SS.

Not worried about Correa. It sucks to break a leg, but the Fibula isn't usually a huge deal. Let's just hope it's not displaced and not spiraled way up his Fibula. Basically, as long as they don't have to put a ton of screws in it, he will be fine.

Even if they do, he should still be fine. He just may be better off at 3rd base...which he may have ended up at anyways.

As far as recovery a broken bone is wayyyy better than a torn tendon or something. There is no reason Correa shouldn't bounce back. Don't hit the panic button yet guys.

Lets hope its less severe than Buster Posey's... which involved severe ligament damage.

Bones heal, especially in 19 year olds... and its way too early to say this will lead to future speed loss and force a switch of positions. Hopefully he's done enough at A ball to not have to spend more time there when he's recovered, and can gain a promotion based solely on what was expected to happen right about now.

If the Astros have less SS depth than 3B depth, he still likely comes up as a SS.

Could be a fracture, which would provide for a much better outlook and quicker recovery time. Either way this is very disappointing because I wouldn't expect to see Correa in Corpus before next year.

They need to move him up whenever he heals.

Go post in another forum, or stop whining about our players.

Give Appel time. There are plenty of flops who played well in the minors as well. Only time will tell. Personally I am tired of post like these.
