Racism is not cool. You got the wrong idea on why people here hate Jeremy Lin if you think that was funny.
I am surprised to find Lin is getting 4th most minutes on the team, more than Boozer, Slaggy P, Ronnie Price. With Kobe out, only Wesley Johnson and Jordan Hill get more minutes per game than Lin. 25.8 minutes a game qualifies as real minutes.
Yet, Lin fans cry foul and claim that his numbers are down because of his minutes. Lin has had plenty of opportunities to show that he belongs. Scott still gives him plenty of court time. He keeps blowing them with his own pathetic showing on the court. And please dont use the benching excuse. Boozer got benched. He reacted how a professional should and has had some really good games since his benching. Lin got benched. He cried ever so softly to the media. Posted some bible verses on his twitter. Reached out to his online friends for some hugs and kisses. And then made sweet love to his teddy bear before going to bed at night. Teddy is scarred for life because it never thought it would come across anyone softer than it.
I've been watching basketball, the NBA, and the Rockets longer than Lin has been in the league. So there's that..
Actually, because you're Chinese, there's even MORE reason for you to not make the "joke". Let's do our part to not invite racism. If Asians go around making what appears to be racist "jokes", then others will think these "jokes" are also ok to make. And I don't think people's reaction to the joke is being thin skinned.
It's one thing to reclaim a pejorative term to take back control of hurtful language -- as you say, it's ok for you to use it because you're Chinese -- however, it's completely inappropriate when used outside of your community. Within your community, it is understood from the shared racial experience you all have. Outside of your community, terms like these are used to denigrate people and lower their social status within the culture of the majority. On a forum like ClutchFans, people cannot see your skin color, observe your swagger, read the intent on your face, or take any number of other cues as to your intent. Your comment becomes, by default, simply racist. You've put others in the uncomfortable position of speaking out to protect the feelings of a community to which you belong.
And There's also no harm in pointing out that he does suck and not because of the rockets or the lakers

Jeremy Lin playing well today. Only glanced at his box score. 12 points in 11 minutes on 5-6 shooting. 1 assist and 2 turnovers though. That's what Lin should be doing. Just shoot the damn ball and forget about being a point guard.
