When I was in high school, there were only 4 high schools in CFISD. And they all played in Pridgeon, a state-of-the-art football stadium.

Katy is back to #1, according to ABC 13.
Why was the game called? Weather? Can't find the reason anywhere on the interwebnets...

Only 2 more games left, but the playoff picture in Cy-Fair ISD is once again thrown into flux.

    Thursday

    Langham Creek 49, Cy-Springs 28

    Friday

    Cy-Fair 31, Cy-Ranch 7
    Cy-Woods 37, Cy-Falls 15

    Saturday

    Jersey Village 24, Cy-Ridge 16

And.... a long, long losing streak is finally over for Cy-Lakes, as they knocked off Cy-Creek 41-21 on the strength of 3 defensive touchdowns. This was their first win since October 29, 2011. Between that day and tonight, the Spartans had lost 18 straight. This is also their first win over a school other than Cy-Springs.

Also, thanks to Lakes' win, Fair becomes the first team in the district to punch its playoff ticket.

So, with Week 8 of District 17-5A in the books, here's how the table looks. The records are in district play.

    Cy-Fair, 6-1
Cy Woods, 5-2 (lost to Langham 48-20, defeated Ridge 28-26)
Cy-Ridge, 5-2 (lost to Woods 28-26, plays Langham next week)
Langham Creek, 5-2 (defeated Woods 48-20, plays Ridge next week)
    Cy-Creek, 3-4
    Cy-Ranch, 3-4
    Jersey Village, 3-4
    Cy-Springs, 2-5
    Cy-Falls, 2-5
    Cy-Lakes, 1-6

this week rankings going in to this weekends game - NOTE - Southlake Carroll almost lost last night to Keller Fossil Ridge. Ridge led 27-13 at the half, so Carroll may slip a notch or two in the polls for next week. As usual, I bolded all of the Houston-area teams. Go Mustangs!

In Cy-Fair ISD, 3 of the 4 playoff spots have been clinched. Langham Creek, Cy-Woods, and Cy-Fair are headed to the postseason, and Cy-Fair has clinched a share the district title. They'll win it outright if they beat Cy-Creek on Friday. The final spot is up for grabs, and 3 teams have a shot to get it: Cy-Ridge, Cy-Ranch, and Jersey Village.

All Ridge has to do this weekend is beat Cy-Springs and they're in. But...

    So, RM95, what say you?

They're going to have to do something since there will probably be nine high schools in the district within the next few years. And it's a little disingenuous to call it the most expensive when it would be servicing seven high schools. Allen I.S.D.'s is the most expensive currently and only one high school uses it, IIRC.

Sounds like the opposition to the Katy project rallied around the idea that:

    1. there are a couple of middle schools there that have kids taking classes in temporary buildings; and

    2. they know there will be a bond issue for the building of new middle schools -- and people believed 2 bond issues so close together would definitely mean an increase in taxes.

RM95 makes a great point about the number of schools sharing that stadium...but I can't help but have sticker shock when I see those numbers thrown around for a high school stadium.

Stratford beat Ridge Point last night, winning district.

Any idea when we'll know playoff matchups for next week? Will those be posted somewhere tomorrow?
