That doesn't make it a troll poll, it makes it relevant. It exposes how silly the last poll was when people were overreacting and not giving Morey a chance.
The answer has been and still is no. It's hard to envision a day when firing Morey will become a pertinent resolution to anything. Hope I didn't just jinx anything.
Absolutely yes, worst possible GM this franchise could ever have. Worse than this thread is significant.
That old thread is hilarious is retrospect, but it's important to remember that those were some very dark days for Rockets fans. "Basketball Reasons" was just ****ing crushing. Three years of the 14th pick with no end in sight. Luckily, Morey & staff (and Les) never lost hope. Harden changed everything, obviously. Now that Morey has proven the no-tank rebuild is possible (if not exactly quick), I'm smiling at the thought of other fanbases crushing their GM for not doing the same thing!
Have to also agree with GATER here. Let's keep around a GM that he believes is only good at "rearranging the deck chairs" to SPITE the team he is supposedly a fan of, all to prove himself right that $ball is a failure. Now THAT is a sign of a true, dedicated fan.
As funny as it was to read all the doubters in that old thread my favorite part was seeing posts from Margrave in there. Had totally forgot about that lol
Just saw this in a Grantland article, ha. That Daryl Morey, folks chuckled a year ago, burning up the phone lines to chase the no. 9 seed. When is Houston going to wise up and can that guy? I am definitely aboard the 'Fire Morey' train. Err I meant was! I was!
Good thread, I like seeing the difference from last year until now. I would think or hope that anyone that voted him to fired today is just joking.
we should trade him while he's a hot, and bring in a young prospect with upside on the cheap, maybe some young MIT MBA grad good with statistics.
morey got very lucky with harden and dwight. but he was prepared for time that luck would turn and for that i give him a lot of credit. that's all he can do, really. be prepared to move at any given time.
Then why even make this thread? If you're trying to compare now and then, there's no comparison, seeing as how this board is on a high from getting Dwight.
Should we never ask it again? If there is no comparison and we are all on a high, shouldn't it be almost 100% in his favor? Some people will troll and pick yes, but there are still a lot of people who still don't believe in what Morey is doing. In my opinion, there is a difference between 12-15% and 3-5% voting to fire him. It would be pretty remarkable to see this board agree on this by as much as 95%, but that's probably not going to happen.
well, just for the record I picked yes as a joke. Please Darryl, don't have any depression because of the Yes votes...
I voted No a year ago. I won't read through the thread to find what I said, but I know at the time, I was hanging on by a thread. I was saying he had better blow up the roster in the offseason or I was going to get on the fire Morey bandwagon. I guess he read my posts and came around. So, he bought himself some extra rope. Even if the Dwight Howard acquisition blows up in his face, I'll give him some grace -- for a little while.
