so who do you guys think we'll give up before the deadline? I know its early to talk about this but its a fun subject. What do you think we could get for norris? If he keeps his performance up like he is this season I think we could haul some top prospects from him. I heard the cards were interested and I know they have a ton of young pitching in there minor leagues. who else do you think will be dealt?
As good as Norris pitched against the Cardinals, I'm not surprised they have interest. I can maybe see a top 50 prospect, but not much more for him unless he just absolutely keeps doing what he has so far this season.
heard he worked on his mechanics during the off season so lets hope he stays on form and we sell high on him.
Carter is interesting, if he continues at this pace he could command close to a Hunter Pence type haul given his age and club control. Question is do the Astros believe he's a part of the future or not.
I can't see them trading Carter. He's the current/future DH. The Astros don't have many power hitting prospects to fill the 1B/DH positions besides Singleton. Once Pena is gone we're going to have a hole there. Wallace has obviously shown nothing. That and there's no way he'll get a Hunter Pence type package. Pence doesn't play a premium defensive position but he does have defensive value in RF. Carter is basically bat-only and that greatly diminishes his value.
small sample size. Lowrie's a good player no doubt. If healthy he's capable of all-star numbers. Oakland gave up a lot too: two MLers with upside and 11 years of team control and a lottery ticket catching prospect. The Astros definitely have their eye on the future.
I would make the trade again without hesitation. Lowrie will be hurt in a few weeks while Carter and Peacock look like they could be a big part of this team's future.
I think Carter and Altuve are the most unavailable players on the major league roster. Followed closely by Castro, Peacock & Dominguez - in that order.
Maxwell is the most likely guy to be traded in my opinion. He looks to be a MLB ball player, is 29, and plays a position that will likely be taken from him soon by a prospect (Springer). He won't get as much as Norris would, but I also expect the Norris asking price will be much higher.
I can see this happening. If Springer can cut down on the K's (currently 17 in 45 ab), I don't think they'd have an issue with giving him a shot later in the season. He'll be 24 in September so it's not like they'd be starting his clock too early.
