this big russian moron who owns them thinks overpaying guys way past their prime is the way to go. Everyone not named Deron Williams is overpaid as hell. The D-will trade was a good one, even if they lost Favors and Devin Harris. The Wallace one last year was a head-scratcher, obviously they wouldn't draft lillard but even Harrison Barnes or Andre Drummond would have been better than gerald freaking wallace. This russian is like the NBA version of George Steinbrenner, overpays aging names and probably wont succeed at least steinbrenner won a few titles
It's the health issues, and age issues. In one way, this reminds me of the time Lakers hired "mercenaries" (Malone and Payton) to suppliment the Shaq and Kobe combo. You saw how that turned out.
For some reason, I am imagining the guy on the other end of the owner's phone call looking like this: "Yes, Mikhail. I take care of him."
In that case, Jason Kidd better gets things working in a hurry And just to be safe, get his passports updated
It's not Prokhorov, it's the GM he hired (forgot his name). From what I understand the owner just gave him a blank check so that GM just did everything he could think off tp get immediate wins, to the tune of 200M in lux tax lol. Personally I think D-Will and Brooks are the two guys that are overpaid as hell, D-Will is making the max but he is out of shape and always injured, the guy we cut is currently outplaying him right now. Plus they gave up Favors and Harris. Brooks plays no D and is like a poor man's David Lee, he just plays in the Leastern Conf and so isn't exposed to good teams who would eat him up for Bfast, lunch and dinner (for example Philly is 6-9 in East but 1-5 in West). Wallace trade was horrible too, but at least Wallace isn't as overpaid as those two, and because they already made a horrible deal by signing Brooks, Williams and JJ a lunch pail guy like Wallace is needed to complement the squad.
This team reminds me of the fate of the German battleship Bismarck. Built to prevail. On paper the most firepower of any ship in WW2. But in the end, a fatal flaw (broken rudder) left the battleship unable to steer the course it wanted. Ultimately, sat helpless as it took on shell after shell until finally it sunk.
I was never impressed with DWill. He looked good playing for Sloan, the guy who does all PnR all the time for 50 years. That's all they ever did. 1-dimensional overhyped "superstar".
They should have stuck with what they had last season. All they needed was a few more pieces to add to their good team. But they had to bring in some old players who didn't want to leave Boston. #moneycantbuyyoueverything.com
Deron Williams is an annoying player - he's seemingly worth a max deal because when he's on he's a top 3 PG (or at least capable of being one, remember when people used to think it was neck-and-neck between him and Chris Paul...?) - but instead you get long stretches where he's either injured/out of shape/injured because he's out of shape/otherwise listless and he just kills you - I think 2 years ago he basically took the first month or so of the season off, then caught on fire. Seems like his big problem (other than health) is motivation and with no Jerry Sloan to scream at him he probably isn't gonna get it, and getting a bunch of Expendables-era superstars probably doesn't help this any.
Even worse, I remember lots of geniuses here calling for Morey's head for not trying hard enough to bring him to the Rockets. Good lord
Anyone hiring Billy King as GM deserves the consequences. With that being said, Nets' .300 records puts them only 2 games behind of Atlantic Division title. 2 games from a title, what is wrong with that?
@NetsDaily: Has Mirza Teletovic demanded a trade from #Nets? http://t.co/BmoqJVReN6 what is happening with the nets. Even New York nets didn't seem as bad as this

It can have either connotation. Basically, it is a term derived from baseball referring to minor league teams.
