November 2011 March 2012 LOVE IT! My new yard wants teh rain so baaaad! BTW- This coming Tuesday they're saying to expect from 3-5" of rain and flash flood watches, again. Suck it 2011! Rain, humid and mosquito season is back! Nice to know ya drought, now see ya and eat ballz.
sucks, gotta be at the airport Tuesday. Insignificant basketball game same day, I have a feeling I will be stuck at Bush all day if it rains like that.
Fresh water is a major issue. However it is a major issue most people tend not to think about. My coworker and I had conversations about southern California's water usage. Los Angeles is in a desert yet I don't believe most people in Los Angeles realize that it is in a desert. Droughts test character. http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/produc...ason/13_seasonal_outlooks/color/churchill.php
So far, two doors to the office were blown out due to winds, 4 trees have fallen into our parking lot onto cars and the rain is straight sideways. Made it to work 2 minutes before it started.
If this one doesn't pull most of east Texas out of drought stage, then that's insane. I heard some part of Texas in the hill country received over 10+ inches of rain overnight with numerous tornadoes.
CRAS model shows another round of heavy rain for tomorrow after this storm. RAIN RAIN RAIN! I wanna be home eating a brownie. Link.
The great news is about this one is that the Highland lakes got a bunch. They had to open gates on Lake LBJ which will flow into Travis. No reports that I've seen yet on what the impact will be but it can only be good.
The storm band is pretty thin, seemed to blow its load pretty quick over here (westchase). 4 trees down on the East side? Damn.
Shut it smart pants, dead Oaks near our parking lot onto employees cars. I'm in a war zone with no lights, putting on the camo gear now and have the bear spray ready so I can loot.
I expected a lot more rain and way too quickly. We only got a inch. You say there will be rain tomorrow, LF? Don't make me beat you up if I only see the sun tomorrow!
The march diagram is better, but still has roughly 80% of the state in severe drought conditions or worse.
http://conroe.uslakes.info/Level.asp Lake Conroe was 8' below level and is now only 2' below. Good news for Lake Conroe residents.
Here is a great site that monitors the highland lakes and streams etc. http://floodstatus.lcra.org/#llevels Lake Travis is expected to rise about 4 feet after these storms. Keep it coming man ! DD
Yeah, as usual, it wasn't nearly as good/bad (depending on your perspective) as they said it would be. They were saying it would pour all day Monday and Tuesday and some spots would get 5 to 7 inches of rain, tornadoes, hail, flooding, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria! In the end, we ended up getting an hour long rainstorm and that's it. No one in Houston got more than 2 inches.
I work in the Galleria and we were instructed to hunker down away from windows briefly this morning after a tornado was spotted in the area. I went to the Chronicle's website on my phone to check for any news and the first comment in the article I read was some weisenheimer (almost certainly a member of this board) asking if Katy should evacuate.
