Vertical Jump - everybody loves watching it but it is one of the worst indicators of how good a basketball player is.
Poor Rashard. I was just thinking about that yesterday. Someone should have told him Rudy's penchant for acquiring average players who fool coaches with that One Big Three Point Shot, or, especially, for finding the next Rudy T. (Dan Langhi, Mirsad Turkcan, Bostjan Nachbar, I know I'm missing one here). Damian Lillard looks good. Good enough to make it tougher for us to trade Kyle to get into the top 10.
Per Chad Ford, here are all the measurements: Damn, Meyers Leonard... 7'1", 250 lbs, 5.7% body fat. sheesh
IDK if they've been posted or not but here are some of the measurements from the NBA Combine via draftexpress: http://www.draftexpress.com/nba-pre-draft-measurements/?year=2012&sort2=DESC&draft=0&pos=0&source=NBA%20Draft%20Combine&sort=6 Some notable measurements: Andre Drummond measured w/t the longest wingspan at 7'6.25 Anthony Davis had great all around measurements 6'10 (w/t shoes) and a 7'5.5 wingspan with a 9'0 reach. John Henson and Kyle O'Quin tied for the highest standing reach, both measured at 9'3.5 Quincy Miller measured a legit 6'10 w/t a 9'1 standing reach <- great size for a SF. Bradley Beal measured in at shade under 6'5 w/t a 6'8 wingspan
Dion waiter's height without shoes shocks me the most. 6'2.5" Tyshawn Taylor is slightly taller and he's a pg....
Reminds me. In the summer of 1997 (I think?), I would go to a high school gym (no AC, hot as hell) with my dad in Coralville, Iowa (near the University of Iowa) to watch what was basically a type of summer league....players going to play in college, players in college, a couple of no-account NBA'ers wanting to stay in shape (think Brad Lohaus). EDIT: Come to think of it, Matt Bullard showed up from time to time. Ricky Davis was doing some drills before the game. The man literally jumped like a human flea. You never heard so many oohs and ahs. He attended his one year at UI starting that August. A year later he was doing the same high-jumps at NBA combines. We all thought he was going too early but I think he was drafted at the end of the lottery. Now, he had a halfway-decent NBA career, nothing stellar, but he really had to work on his game, and he was, yes, dumber than a box of rocks. Was he a good player? He became serviceable, not bad. But these coaches and scouts and GMs, they do fall for the high-jumpers more often than not.
Tony Wroten is a listed as a PG and measured out to be 6-6. That's gonna help his stock, even though he has terrible jump shot.
HA! I knew it! Sullinger isn't even 6'8 barefoot. Damn, Terence Ross is 3.2% bodyfat...well I guess if you're only 195lbs at 6'6you better be 3.2% bodyfat.
