Hope you don't mind that I posted this on the crawfishboxes (I gave you credit). Some fans need it Since there's no recap on the weekends. Lol
Eh I don't think he minds lol. Last weekend someone that he should have a "bench" for whenever he is unable to post them(like the weekends) they can just step in, and he agreed in all caps.
Remember when I said this? Zach Johnson hit his 15th in the first inning of the Legends game. That's now 5 hr in his last 10 games.
Krause hit #5 in CC to reach 20 hr for the season. Borchering hit another one too. So far early returns on the CJ trade are looking gooooood.
Question...I'm going to the Salt Lake Bees game tomorrow night against your RedHawks and I was wondering who are the 3-4 best prospects to have sign some baseballs?
I'd go for Jimmy Paredes, Mike Hessman, Chris Wallace, and Jarred Cosart. Hope you enjoy the game tomorrow! Oh, and if you can, give us a few observations.
Saturday Stories Corpus and Lexington ensure that they will not walk off the field with losses. Tri-City.... doing the usual. Recap OKC's foray into the Pacific Northwest did not end well as they lost 3 of 4 in Tacoma with a 5-1 loss. Brett Oberholtzer went 4 2/3 innings and allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, walked 1, and struck out 3. The Redhawks did not have an RBI, and Chris Wallace scored the lone run in the 3rd as J.B. Shuck reached on an error. After the epic fail of Friday, Corpus made sure that didn't happen on Saturday. The Hooks did see their 6-2 lead to Midland evaporate into a tie game, but all hell just broke loose in the 9th. Long story short: The Corpus Christi Hooks scored 11 in the top of the 9th on their way to a 17-6 victory. The newest acquisitions (Bobby Borchering and Marc Krauss) ransacked Midland's bullpen. Actual (very) long story: Bobby Doran had a nice start until the wheels fell off in the 7th for him, as he allowed 4 (1 inherited) to tie the game at 6. In 6 1/3 innings, he allowed 6 runs on 11 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. The Hooks got 2 in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd innings while the Rockhounds scored 2 of their own in the bottom of the 1st. A Marc Krauss RBI single and a Jonathan Singleton sac fly kicked things off. Then in the 2nd, after an Andy Simunic triple, Jose Martinez sent him home with an RBI single, the first of 2 that he'd hit, and the first hit in a 4-5 night. Borchering led off the 3rd with a solo shot, the 1st of 2 that he had last night. One batter later, Jason Castro doubled and Martinez came through again, getting him home with another single. That would be all the scoring that the Hooks would do until that epic 9th. Krauss got the show started by sending one out to un-tie the game, his 5TH with the Hooks. In only 5 games!!! Then, after Drew Locke and Jonathan Singleton walked, Borchering singled to load the bases. Jair Fernandez then ripped a 2-run double. Andy Simunic then had a 2-run double of his own. Robbie Grossman then drew a walk, and Jose Martinez was plunked to reload the bases. Krauss promptly emptied them with a double. Locke struck out for the 2nd out, then Singleton walked again. Borchering provided the cherry with a 3-run shot, his 2nd of the night. Arcenio Leon shut it down for 1 2/3 scoreless to get the win, walking 1 and striking out 2. Borchering finished 4-5 and now has 23 homers on the season. Krauss reached the 20-homer plateau with a 3-6 and 6 RBI performance. Simunic finished 2-5 with the triple and the 2-run double. Singleton had his sac fly, and Martinez his 2 RBI singles. Grossman went 1-2 with 3 walks and 3 runs scored. Lancaster got themselves back on track as they walked off with a 6-5 victory over High Desert in 11 innings. Chris Epps had 2 solo shots, giving him 10 with Lancaster, and 12 on the season. Alex Todd went 4-5 from the leadoff spot. George Springer went 1-6 with an RBI in the 3rd that was still credited to him despite the fact that an error was charged on the play. Yeah, he's that good. Drew Muren went 3-5 with an RBI single, and in the 8th, he scored the tying run on a fielder's choice from Telvin Nash. But the hero of the night was Erik Castro, who capped off his night with a walk-off single in the 11th. Nick Tropeano is still trying to get something going in Lancaster, as he went 6 innings and allowed 5 runs (3 earned) on 7 hits, walked 1, and struck out 6. His bullpen threw 5 scoreless, no small feat in the biggest hitters' park in all of professional baseball. Chia-Jen Lo allowed 2 hits in 2 scoreless innings, and Andrew Rodinson has just continued to be filthy after that terrible start to his season. He didn't allow a hit in his 3 innings, and he walked 1 and fanned 7 to get the win. Robinson how has 68 strikeouts in 52 innings. In 44 1/3 innings since the calendar flipped to May, he has a 2.45 ERA and 60 strikeouts. Lexington trounced Hagerstown 8-0 behind a strong pitching performance from David Rollins and a show of force from Matt Duffy and Zach Johnson. Rollins allowed 2 hits, walked 1, and fanned 2 over 5 shutout innings. Juri Perez finished off the last 4 innings and also allowed 2 hits, also walked 1, and also struck out 2. Everyone in the lineup had a hit except for Ruben Sosa, who walked twice and scored twice. Duffy and Johnson both had 2 hits in this game. They both had solo shots (Duffy 14, Johnson 15), while Duffy had an RBI double and a sac fly. Johnson had a 2-run double, giving him 97 RBI on the season. Emilio King and Jose Fernandez also chipped in 2 hits and had RBI singles. Tri-City just may be the best team in the Minors. They fell behind in their series opener against Mahoning Valley, but... the ValleyCats were quickly up to their usual antics, and they ended up coming out 8-3 victors. Neiko Johnson had a huge night, going 3-3 with a 2-run homer (1), walked twice, and stole 2 bases (8). Tri-City broke out for 5 in the 3rd, as M.P. Cokinos (1st professional homer) and Dan Gulbransen (3) went back-to-back to lead off the inning. Tyler Heineman had an RBI single in the inning, Ryan Dineen was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and Cokinos came up again, and delivered an RBI single. Heineman finished 2-5 and added an RBI double in the 5th. Lance Day went 6 2/3 innings and allowed 3 runs on 8 hits and struck out 6. Jamaine Cotton finished it off by allowing a hit and striking out 3 in 2 1/3 scoreless. Greeneville, glad to be home, walked off 3-2 winners in 10 innings against Johnson City. After Jean Carlos Batista hit a 1-out double in the 4th, Ariel Ovando sent him home with a triple. One batter later, Terrell Joyce brought him home with a single. Dan Minor had a very strong start, as he allowed 2 hits and struck out 3 over 6 shutout innings. Unfortunately, he had to settle for a no-decision as the normally reliable Jordan Jankowski couldn't close it out in the 9th, as Adam Ehrlich took him for a ride to tie the game at 2. Ah, but Ovando undid that mistake by playing hero. His single in the 10th brought Brian Blasik home to score the winning run. Euris Quezada got the victory with 1 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing a hit and striking out 3. GCLstros were rained out. The Academy and the Indians were suspended with the game tied at 1 in the 3rd.

Thanks to Rockets12, we now know when Lance McCullers will be making his Greeneville debut. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p><a href="https://twitter.com/lmccullers_23"><s>@</s><b>lmccullers_23</b></a> when do you have your first start in Greenville?</p>— no name avaliable (@Woodlandstro) <a href="https://twitter.com/Woodlandstro/status/232256907702857728" data-datetime="2012-08-05T23:28:56+00:00">August 5, 2012</a></blockquote> <script src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Yeah, and since his Twitter is protected... here's his response.
There's a nice blurb on Ariel Ovando on this morning's Ask BA. In short, Jim Callis doesn't believe the outlook on Ovando has changed much despite his much-improved repeat year at Greeneville. Surprised me at first, but his logic is sound. Ovando is an extremely raw version of Domingo Santana (whose birthday was yesterday BTW). He's actually a little behind Santana's development too; Santana was in full season SAL ball by age 18. I wonder if they're going to put him in Tri-City or Lexington next season.
In the early game, Brady Rodgers allowed 1 run on 5 hits and struck out 8 in 6 innings. Tri-City leads Mahoning Valley 5-1 in the 9th.
Got some good/interesting pitching prospects still to come today: Greeneville Game 1: Adrian Houser Greeneville Game 2: Lance McCullers Lexington: Folty Foltynewicz Corpus: Matt Heidenreich (ChiSox trade) OKC: TBA
Plus Brady Rodgers pitched a nice game today: 6IP 5H 1R 1ER 0BB 8K And Joe Musgrove is pitching two innings in one of the two greenvile games(I assume the first one since it has been scheduled for a week)
