Why do we have one big offseason thread instead of more threads?

I was totally prepared, because we already stole away Singleton and Cosart.

Cosart is a great follow on Twitter by the way. Huge lover of all things Houston...and he rags on Dallas quite a bit. After the Texans won on Thursday and the Cowboys game was starting up, he said something like, "Hey, now Texas' JV team gets to play"

Let's get Biddle out of this, and I'll be fine with giving up Wilton Lopez :)

to follow day to day stuff..speculation. look at most of the posts in this thread...very few would be thread worthy independently

I made this thread mostly for our musings. Outside reporting like Lopez trade could have its own. Don't know if it matters until we know it has legs.

Edit: New thread started since being reported deal is agreed to.

Sorry for complaining. I just feel like when actual trades go down then they Gould get their own thread. Thanks for making one juicy.

Braves traded Tommy Hanson to the Angels for a middle reliever. Even though he struggled last year, I would loved to have made a similar deal with them.

The fact that they are giving away Hanson so cheap makes me more upset about the Bourn trade, which I need to get over one day.

Astros claim guy who pitched a perfect game, then proceeded to suck for the rest of the season

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Humber claimed on waivers by Houston.</p>&mdash; Mark Gonzales (@MDGonzales) <a href="https://twitter.com/MDGonzales/status/274636739006562304" data-datetime="2012-11-30T22:11:15+00:00">November 30, 2012</a></blockquote>

    Another perfect game winner!

Hopefully it works out better than the last. In fact, hopefully it works out as well as the last SP we claimed from the White Sox.

John Lannan was non-tendered by the Nationals, he would be a good innings eating pitcher for the Astros to pick up. I believe the salary is $5 million.

I'm thinking the odds of Berkman returning are very high.

Would love to pick up John Lannan or Jair Jurrjens who were non-tendered.

How hilarious would it be for Humber and Edgar Gonzales to man the 4 and 5 spots and win 15-20 games between them.

Hoping you're right. I think it would be a very low-risk/high potential move. First, you get the great nostalgia aspect of having Puma back where he is supposed to be. Secondly, if he is productive, which I suspect he will be, and the Astros are well out of playoff contention by late summer, he could always agree to a trade to a contender for prospects. Although I really like Berkman and would like to see him retire as an Astro.

If he makes it through the meetings with no serious offers, then I will agree with you.
