According to sources on BigSoccer that are close to the team's Front Office, ground breaking will take place on Saturday, January 29th. Then there's this from Metro to add fuel to the fire... And here's fresh Stadium Renderings of what is likely the final renders, which shows a covered supporters side on the south end, sideline suites in the middle of the full 360° bowl (zoom in close, you'll see the boxes), the scoreboard on the north end, and the elimination of the tower lights on the corners that we've seen in previous renders. Lighting will now likely be tucked under the sideline canopies... Enjoy!
Awesome, thanks for posting. I can honestly say that I've never looked forward to the start of an MLS season like I'm looking forward to this one. We (Houston) need a strong sports representative in the worst way. Dynamo and their FO are still relatively new in town but I have a lot of faith in them based on track record.
Some more information on the mystery Brazilian player Kinnear plans to sign. http://blogs.chron.com/soccer/
The Dynamo are moving to the Eastern Conference. I don't think this will have a huge effect on things since we still play every team twice.
Don't they take the top 8 teams regardless of conference in the playoffs anyway? I don't quite understand why they have the conference setup when it seems like it's completely irrelevant.
I think the teams that switch conferences during the playoffs get a lower seed than any team in the conference they move to (if that makes sense), but yeah, really not much of a difference
Last year it was the top two teams in the conferences and then the rest based on overall standings, so yeah, it doesn't make much of a difference. The only reason to keep conferences now is that in the future (maybe as soon as next year) they will need them again.
that sounds good but if the brazilian we are trying to sign isnt Neymar or Gonzo i wouldnt make a deal

UPDATE: Stadium is on the city council's agenda for Wednesday and will likely be approved, clearing the way for groundbreaking, due to the county already giving its thumb's up last week. http://www.houstontx.gov/citysec/agenda.html
Surprised to see this wasnt updated. Groundbreaking is definitely happening on this Saturday, Feb 5th. And here's a final render of the interior....
