They only had one bad season, this past year. They made the WCF the season before. They lost a couple US National tam players to Europe as well as their GM. They are just in rebuilding mode
After winning back-to-back championships in 2006 and 2007, we made a conference finals and second round appearances and made the Finals in the SuperLiga. So yeah, we did cool off and this season was much worse after we were hit injuries and poor defense capabilities (what Houston team doesn't play poor defense). If we can get a Designated Player and finisher around the goal then I'm almost certain we can get back to competing at a high level.
Dynamo up next, Will Bruin and Joao Plata both are available along with some good defenders. They're in a great position right now.
Kofi Sarkodie is the pick, VERY surprised that the Dynamo didn't pick Will Bruin but a great pick nonetheless.
In Dom We Trust. I like these two picks, plus the addition of Soto. I'm guessing the guys that Dom liked on his Brazil trip were midfielders and we plan on going after a couple of them to strengthen the midfield.
^Interesting...Tar Heel product. Some more info on him here: http://www.houstondynamo.com/player/alex-dixon Its shame that there aren't many more Dynamo fans on this board, Dom and the rest of the front office have done such an incredible job at putting the best team possible on the field year in and year out. If Morey had the draft night the Dynamo had yesterday the entire GARM would be buzzing, getting arguably the two of the best players at two different positions with the 7th and 11th pick is incredible.
It was a good draft. I don't really know the NCAA soccer game much. I'm not too familiar with the CBA of the MLS. But from what I read we had a good draft. Coupled with the Homegrown player signings, I think it's looking real good.
I really don't know much about prospects in the collegiate ranks, but by all accounts, it looks like the Dynamo had a phenomenal draft. I bet Oliver Luck is beaming all the way from West Virginia.
This has been a great offseason for the Dynamo. I feel like they are one solid player away from being serious title contenders.
