i think it looks great. a civic got my wife to her job that put me through law school. very dependable. i'm like DCKid...i'm not really into cars. frankly, i see them as a huge waste of my money that i'd rather spend elsewhere.
Most people that buy Civics aren't buying them for the cool factor - they're buying them because they're, for the most part, some of the most reliable cars ever to roll off an assembly line and they get pretty good gas mileage. It's also why Toyotas and Hondas constantly outsell other popular car models and are constantly at the top of reliability ratings.
Wow, I sort of like it. Kind of surprised to see so many that don't like the styling. I want a hybrid, and this may be the one I go for.
Not on the 2 door, the 4 door, which looks nice as well kinda looks funny in the front. Takes some gettin used to. These days it is popular to rag on Civics because of what the H.S. kids do to them. But you cant find a nicer looking equivalent of the car for the price it sells for. Top of the line with Navi comes in around 20-22k. I dont think you can beat that. The cars that looks as good in its class is the Mazda 3, Scion TC. The Cobalt is kinda growing on me as well. The Jetta took a step backward. But the NEW GTI looks great. However be aware of the German car snobs out there...
i'm thinking of getting the accord coupe though it only has a 26/34 EPA mileage estimate ....compared to the 30/40 the civic does....i'm about to graduate so i'm lookin for somethin relatively cheap...i might just go with the 2-door civic (anyone noticed how cheap the Camry's are ...almost same price as the 2006 Civics) ...one day i will get my dream car: BMW M5.
You mean Ford, right? I like how Ford's got everybody thinking that Mazdas are of the same breed as Honda, Toyota, and Nissan with those stupid commercials. Maybe Nissan, but come on...anything that is made by Ford should never be mentioned in the same sentence with Honda or Toyota. All Mazdas are made by Ford Motor Company. That said, I really like the look of the 3's and 6's...they move pretty quick too. But if you get one, make sure it's only a lease and make sure nobody leased it before you. Everything, down to the pulley system for the power windows, is made out of plastic. Just like the snappy-looking plastic Jetta that's pretty quick too, the entire car will start to fall apart on you after about 3 years. And you'll have to keep "Smart Buy"-ing a new one every 36 months like they want you to do. Take it from somebody who works on cars for a living...Fords, Hyundais, Kias, Mazdas, and Volkswagens are the cars that engineering forgot. Did I forget to say late 90's-to-present Volkswagens suck? Well, they do. They're the crappiest cars ever built in the history of automobiles. They just might be the crappiest product ever made. P.S. - Volkswagens suck.
Bleh... What happened to the frontend? Can't decide which one looks worse...sorry but Honda's exterior styling continues to get worse. The old 90's Accords/Civics look better. Now that's more like it... say what you will about first-gen Hyundais...but they're looking better (in all aspects).
almost 20K for the top of the line only with 140 hp..a rather conservative engine isn't it? And don't try to convince me with the vtec. I had an RSX-S. It's also odd the same engine is for all 3 trim levels. It does look nice though cosmetically.
Oh, the SI was a separate option on the internet then. I think it was a separate internet link. That's not that bad then I assume.
I've had a Nissan 300ZX and an Infinity J30t. Best cars I've ever owned. Don't go crapping on Nissans. I think they're better than Toyota and Honda, personally. And... yes... Volkswagons suck.
I'd have to agree with pretty much everything that DallasThomas said. The one thing stopping me from ever purchasing a Mazda is the fact that it's really a Ford underneath. And yes, most recent Volkswagen generations are sucky cars - especially Jettas. The only thing Ford I'd probably ever buy is a pickup truck, and I have no need for one of those and hopefully never will. The Ford taint has touched several makes - Land Rover, Volvo, Mazda, Jaguar, Aston Martin, etc. In all honesty, in today's market, just about everybody builds something for someone else. Mazda has built stuff for Ford in the past (I think the old Escort drivetrain? I think they helped engineer the engines in past Ford Rangers, too.). The Mazda Tribute and Ford Escape are essentially the same vehicle. Chrysler and Mitsubishi have collaborated in the past. Honda and Isuzu are/were tight - hell the old Isuzu Rodeo and the Honda Passport were the same vehicle; they even looked the same.
And don't forget the original Mazda creation, the Mazdang. Back in '88, Ford wanted a new Mustang, and they went to Mazda to get it. People were so outraged at this front-wheeled drive monstrosity that Ford kept the old Mustang's face and changed the new version of the Mustangs name. It became the Ford Probe.
Dude, I did not know that the Probe was intended to be a Mustang. I know the Probe and MX-6 were cousins. Do you have any documentation to back that up? I would love to read up on that one... Thanks Edit: nevermind, I found some info on it, I never knew this. Here is a link if anyone wants to read about it. Ford Probe/Mustang
As far as I know, Mazda 3, Miata, MPV are all made in Japan. All have excellent reviews. On the other hand, their pickup truck is a rebranded Ford Ranger, and Tribute = Escape.
Well, consider this Honda 'Japanese cars' loyalists: the Civic is 'Made in North America', only 15% Japaense (I believe transmission is only major component from Japan). Seriously though, whether you believe it or not, as of THIS moment (forget the past) there is very little difference between cars in competing markets (ie mid-size family sedans, small compacts, etc.) that could legitimately convince me that there is that much of a difference between cars made in essentially the same country (most Japanese cars are built entirely in the good ol' USA). Heck, how do you explain that GM, for example, has the two top-rated assembly plants (or something like that) in North America? Is an Impala REALLY that much worse mechanically than a Camry or an Accord? What about a Huyndai Sonata (the new one is pretty nice)? Seriously, I think it all comes down to 'brand preference' and old 'reps' haunting some car manufacturers to this day. With that being said, I went and test-drove the new Civic and it's an impressive vehicle when compared to the older models and the competition -- high quality fit n finish, good looking interior that's quiet roomy for a small car, and much better engine power than the previous generation. About the only negative is the price, you can't really convince me to part with nearly $21k for a Civic EX with 140 hp engine, I could get an Accord coupe for that!
So basically the prices of a Civic and an Accord LX are the same these days. Now why would I go buy the smaller car with the same money?
The Civic EX w/Navi + auto is 20k. The civic ex is 18k. Yea you could get an accord...but you won't have navi or auto climate control etc etc blah blah blah. There is alot of things I could list but it comes down to two things, money and preference. Tigermission, you dont really know much about cars. Thats why you say ignorant things like that. Go buy yourself a vw or any domestic car and let me know how you feel about them after a few years.
